i may skip jam cruise in lieu of this guy this year. and to the inevitable negative poster: $1000 is the same you'd pay to go VIP to bonnaroo or rothbury.

have you ever done a jam cruise or holidaze? if you had, you would NEVER complain about the price.

It is at an all inclusive resort. These things are for custy tourists and the money doesnt go back to the country who is in bad need of it, it goes to some Rich italian asshole who is taking advantage of the cheap labor and beautiful country. Don't be a custy, buy a backpack and a ticket to central america. Take the local transportation and stay with the locals. You will spend way less money, I promise you will hear good music, and the money you spend will actually go to the citizens of these exotic countries who desperately need it.

UM, Bisco, and Toubab...Sounds amazing. I saw Toubab in Ann Arbor on Wednesday and it was fantastic. Best show I've seen them play so far for sure. Maybe next year after I graduate I can make it down for the party.

I drank and ate over $1000 bucks at this thing last year, not including the free snorkeling and late night dance party in the disco. Who else puts a stage on the beach and late night dancing in the ocean? This will sell out with returners from last year anyway, good luck getting in on the "custy festival for douchebags who like to travel"...enjoy dirty bonnaroo with the mud and the tight black jeans

Not that I'm encouraging anyone to go (I want my friends who didn't go last year to be able to get a spot), but it's totally worth the dollars. If you are questioning it, you obviously have never stood barefoot the Caribbean sea facing a beautiful sunset, then turned around 180 degrees to see some of your favorite bands just tearing it up.

December is so far away and it's really hard to commit to that much of an expense now, but I know my winter will be full of regret if I don't do it all over again.

thirstyfish, for one, i don't appreciate being called a "fool". secondly, i won't be at bonnaroo or rothbury; i'll save my money and go to Holidaze and JamCruise instead. a nice attempt at being funny, but your assumptions are simply inaccurate. carry on.

Ha Ha, as usual, funny as hell. So, as far as no money makes it to the locals? You obviously weren't there. PLENTY of cash went to locals. It is twice the price as a normal Hedo party, but your with a much chiller crowd. Clothing is optional, but only a few topless chicks last year(and Stasik in a Borat outfit). Except for drama unrelated to the fest, it may have been the best vacation of my life. All you can eat, drink, and total debotchery. Custyfest? HA, should be nicknamed the ballers and babes bash. As for the ones who don't know who a custy is. He is the kid that doesn't know his music, wears abercerombie(some are in disguise, watch for patchwork that is brand new), and most importantly-that you can make bank off of. Nobody should go to this festie, please leave room for me and my crew, peace.

A custie, by my definition, is someone who has their shit together, unlike the many who will rip on them for being a part of a functional society. Everyone bought a ticket right...? There isn't a worse way to turn someone off from the scene then by calling them a custie. It's disgusting and I can't stand it. Please stop misrepresenting the accepting majority with elitist b.s. It's all about the music, and anyone who says differently is taking the scene waaaay too seriously.

Can make a lot of money off of? That's nice. It also ends in a preposition, asshole. Custy...That must make those of us that have lasted in this scene all custies. Remember kidder, jealousy gets you no wear. Custy is simply a term for people who don't sell junk to kids to make their way in the world. Be careful, venegence will be mine.

If the disco biscuits never sang they would be 1000x better. That was also the old problem with Brothers Past imo. Just jam and let ur music do all the talking...Brownie's voice is just a distraction from their music. But yeah I have to agree, Jam Cruise and Holidays off shear ambiance and location is worth the money. Throw in your favorite bands and its a week of heaven on earth.

The people who use the word "custie" are typically filthy dread-headed lot kids who sell shitty drugs and worthless trinkets (e.g. magic crystals, hemp necklaces, etc.) to people who come to the shows with tickets that they purchased in advance. Ways to get called a "custie" :1) If you are clean and don't smell like B.O. and 3 day old veggie burritos (that were prepared with the blackened dirty hands of filthy lot rats). 2) If you actually attend the show as opposed to hanging out in the parking lot snorting mollie and vending shitty Tijuana-esque crap. 3) If you actually have a valid Drivers License. The most ironic thing about these filthy lot rats is that the very people who support them are in fact ridiculed. That's pretty bad customer service. Not very business saavy.

"Custie" is an awful word but you guys seem to be missing a good point. All-inclusive resorts like this really are quite evil. If you talk to the local community in Caribbean towns like this, they absolutely hate these places. They draw so much money away from the local tourism business and it all goes into the pockets of rich Americans/Europeans. I recently went to the D.R. and a new super all-inclusive that opened up wouldn't even hire any Dominicans and brought in their staff from their home company. It's like if you owned your own store and wal-mart moved in and took over your customers, only wal-mart was owned by some outside country so their revenue doesn't even filter back into your own country. It's like being doubly screwed over. But even if you don't agree or care about that, I only hear about frat boys and sorostitutes from my school going to all-inclusives and any half way decent person stays in a hostel or whatnot

I wondered when the time would come that people identified and blasted the hypocrisy that has become the "scene". I am happy to report, the time is now! I will not claim some type of supremeness to anyone on this site but there are those of us who can see what is happening and those whose aim is to seclude themselves from the variety of people who keep music alive and well. I've waded through the stages...love for all music, then the leaning toward what my parents listened to, moving onto bands that were accepted by my schoolmates and that I was able to be exposed to via radio and video, next I would hear sounds that came out of the blue with structure that I never heard before. I, like so many others, developed the tendency to want to bogart this music as if it were mine. My only regret is that I let myself accept that music was less than something unifying. While it may offer a unique insight or comfort to someone in the midst of inner struggle or personal progression, the special meaning that it can embody when shared can't be rivaled by hording it. It, espcially weakens the unifying cause to state that the way that someone looks, dresses or earns a living is a reflection of the sound. Sound has no unique reflection except in the ears of those who are listening.

Ha, even funnier hate'n on me(don't shoot the messenger). I never said I serve custies or had any blind hatred toward anybody on lot, just gave an idea of what people call custies. The definition(a customer). I'm not a fan of wookies either(dirty crackhead bums without tickets). Anyhow, Smashy you've got a point. The jamaicans do hate the mega-resorts, but in runwaway bay there isn't much else(its not Negril). And honestly they hate anything owned by the whites. I've been to jamaica twice, and got held-up for no good reason both times(no drugs, so don't incinuate). Hope all you guys hate'n on me have fun talkin shit to a guy you'll never meet, while I'm out enjoying live shows. (Arguing ont he internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win, your still retarded). Hopefully only the kind hearted will be there, see you in jamaica, peace.

I remember the board from last year when this was announced...people got a little hostile then too. :( BUT, once we were in sunny Jamaica, it was the cream of the crop as far as the fans and artists went. There was not an instance of violence, there were no bad vibes, and people were so happy and free! I can't wait!!! We just booked for the second year in a row--this experience changed my life!!! I can't wait to be back and feel the vibes!

And by the way: just because one goes or does not go to Jamaica, doesn't mean anything. I go to All Good, Vibes, and many other concerts throughout the year. Judge not, lest ye be judged. Let's all be a little nicer to be people--even when protected my the veil of the internet.

You guys are fukin halarious. This is gonna be a great party once again, as long as this ain't the crowd minus a couple. I do remember peeps actin kinda like this on the board last time. But it was about as far as you can get from a "custiefest". I'm still not understanding why you guys are hating on me for giving the definition. THEY ARE CUSTOMERS, and thats it. Especially you Moelive. You don't even know me, how can you judge me. I may come off a little offensive on the retarded comment(sorry), but its a joke, laugh at me, with me, whatever. But just laugh.

So I guess this whole board is off topic now. Anyhow, If any of you want to meet me, I'll put my room # up once I get it, and you can tell me what a tool I am in person. That is if any of you haters that sit on a computer allday could afford to come out. Then, will go out have a free drink and free sushi on the beach and forget blind hatred exists. Peace.
