WTF.. these tour dates logistically make little sense, there is alot of travel between festivals without hitting any of the local major cities.. like from Rothbury to Allgood, they dont hit detroit, cleveland, pittsburgh.. and then only hitting up two New York shows between allgood and 10klf? come on, i guess Phil just cant handle the load of touring, but that being said youd think hed choose less traveling?

Still trying to figure why bass buddy badass Phil never comes to Seattle. Damn. I know dude was in Portland a while back, but where's the love? Phil and Bobby tours are always thick with dates in areas with lots of colleges. Makes sense to me, but c'mon Phil the Thrill come to my town. thanks 4 lettn me vent y'all.

Anyone want to give a little more info on this "Saturday In The Park" thing in Sioux City? I checked out the website and it looks like it could be a cool little event. That said, I'm kind of curious as to what kind of set time we'd be looking at (single set, I'm assuming) and wouldn't mind knowing a little more about the venue, etc., before I think about pulling the trigger on a road trip from Denver during a holiday weekend. Thanks in advance to anyone who could post more or shoot me a message!

I think it is not inaccurate to observe that the comments from those who have personally seen the Dead (the real Dead, I mean)are decidedly different from those who have not had that opportunity. Phil is certainly adept at surrounding himself with interesting players, and I wish him the best, but it sure ain't the Dead. Jerry had an aura about him. Maybe the best way to honor the legacy of the Dead is for people like us to play their tunes. I saw a great local Vermont band last night, Honeywell, with Trey's touring amigo Russ Lawton on drums (one of the most musical drummers out there) and they did an amazingly fun Brown Eyed Women. It actually gave me more enjoyment than any Phil or Bobby show, without the fuss. I do totally understand the desire for those of you who did not see the Dead to at least want to access a living link to them via Phil and, perhaps to a lessor extent, Bob. I do not see us old farts being overtly negative as much as simply expressing the pure pain of missing Jerry.

And to CaptCO- nice call on the Waiting for Columbus, man. I'm amazed that folks do not really seem to know Feat any more. Lowell George was an amazing musician and entertainer. If you have not checked out Little Feat, folks, do so! Have a great weekend.

What would Phil do? The folks suggesting such craziness are only thinking of themselves. Did you ever think that maybe Phil needs this? Maybe it's cathartic and helps him deal with the loss of his great friend by sharing his love of the music they played together for so long. What's wrong with trying to keep the spirit alive? I agree it's not the same, but at least he's trying. Young folks today wouldn't know nearly as much about GD and all the good energy they created if Phil and Bob weren't still playing those old songs at festivals, and that would be tragic. If you don't want to go, that's fine. More tickets for me and my friends!

Awesome. Chicago sounds like a great show. I heard that venue is pretty sweet. I am really looking forward to seeing Levon Helm Band. Hopefully you aren't right about them Miles. Maybe he'll make a guest appearance with Phil and do an old school tune by The Band.

Thank you Phil! Can't wait to see you at All Good and Vibes this summer. BTW danalog- WTF is wrong with you? Who better (aside from DSO) than Phil to carry on the torch of GD music? I mean he's only got a few more years before he physically can't tour anymore and we won't be able to see Phil bass it up all summer long. Yes, we do have Bobby but his shows are so different and he doesn't play as many GD songs as Phil does. For people like me who were too young to see the real, full GD live Phil shows are the second best thing we have to see. It's one thing to hear "Bertha" on your stereo compared to dancing like a lunatic in a sunny, open field full of other heads like yourself. I'm sorry but I think you might be missing the point of what the GD was all about. Give Phil another chance and go see him this summer.

Phil is doing great, I don't care, I love it. Jackie Greene kicks ass on guitar, I love the different method of dead music.

I wish PHIL would do a two or three night run at the FOX in atlanta.

I am sick of these festival dates!!!! I want to see this in a nice theater!!!! Not some hot ass festival with 3000 people in my way, yapping and rubbing their sweat on me when they walk by.. :P

I want PHIL in a nice intimate setting like the FOX!!!!!! arrrggghhhhhhhh.
