Outformation - Out on the Road
Spring Tour and Summer Festivals Announced

Outformation
Sam Holt, a member of Widespread Panic's "inner circle" and guitar tech for the late, great, Michael Houser, has devoted himself to Outformation, the Atlanta-based band he formed in 2002 with bassist Grady Upchurch and New Orleans drummer-singer Lee Schwartz.

This fruitful devotion led Outformation to play over 130 shows nationwide last year, including festival appearances at SXSW, Wakarusa, High Sierra, and 10KLF, among others.

This year Outformation is ready to play 200 more shows. They are lined up to play Asheville's Music Jamboree, Bear Creek Music Festival, Hookahville, and the All Good Festival in July. Stay tuned for further festival announcements.

Outformation released their second full-length album, Traveler's Rest, in August of '07. This disc includes Outformation's newest members, keyboardist C.R. Gruver and percussionist Jeff "Birddog" Lane. Widespread Panic collaborated on the title track of Outformation's second album but despite the close ties with Panic, Traveler's Rest presents Outformation as a maturing band focused on their own signature sound.

Holt saw good examples of how a band becomes successful during his tenure with Widespread Panic.

"To see those guys and how long they worked at it, what they built and became, it is a way of life. That's the way we wanna look at it," says Holt.

Outformation plans to release a live DVD recorded at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta, GA from June 2007 this May. Keep an eye out for the release this summer. Then in the fall, Outformation plans to hit the studio again to cut their third studio album, or possibly even a live one.

Outformation recently headlined the Variety Playhouse in their hometown of Atlanta, and closed out 2007 with their first New Years Eve run in Denver, CO, playing two nights at the Gothic Theatre, followed by a two month winter tour.

They played Colorado? Dear Outformation, my friends and I like your band and we don't live in the southeast. Will you consider coming up to Michigan to play for us sometime? Thanks, MFGoof

I LOVE this band. I wish they would play some different places though, its either Colorado, the south, or after WSP. If anyone from Out411 reads this please play Charlottesville, VA or DC, please.

Just saw them in Austin about 1 month ago. To me, the sign of a great band is that they sound better everytime you see them. Outformation is on their way!!! Be seeing y'all in NOLA during Jazz Fest and I can't wait to drink some Mango Mango goodness with CR on the front porch of his Uptown diggs! Only 5 weeks till another wonderful Jazz Fest, and if you ain't goin'....SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

They should thank Panic because if it wasn't for them, they wouldn't get the hype they get.

They guys definitely are a rocking band. This band works hard for what they have. A lot of Musicians get inspiration from other musicians this band has got Inspiration from Panic.... and Marshall Tucker and KISS and Johann Sebastian Bach but isn't that how most bands start the love for Music. Whatever success they have has a to do with a their own hard work and persistence.
