Allman Brothers Band Cancel Bonnaroo Appearance

Gregg Allman
As we reported a few weeks ago (see below), the Allman Brothers Band was forced to cancel several dates including their annual Beacon run and their Wanee appearance due to Gregg Allmans' treatment for Hepatitis C. The band has now been forced to cancel their Bonnaroo gig as well.

As for other Allman Brothers Band dates, a 12-concert jaunt planned for August, including two that have been announced so far (8/16 in Boston, MA and 8/23 in Camden, NJ), will go on as scheduled. The rescheduling of the Beacon Theatre run and additional fall shows will be announced soon.

Bonnaroo will announce an "exciting" addition on Thursday, April 17.

ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND POSTPONE ANNUAL RUN OF BEACON THEATRE SHOWS
AND CANCEL THEIR PERFORMANCE AT WANEE FESTIVAL
AUGUST DATES TO BE PERFORMED AS SCHEDULED

Allman Brothers
The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND announced today that they are postponing their annual run of 15 shows at New York City's Beacon Theatre set for May 5-24, with rescheduled dates TBA. In addition, they have also cancelled their upcoming performances at the Wanee Festival that they host every year in Florida (set for April 11-12, Wanee will continue as planned despite the fact that the Allman Brothers Band will not be appearing). For the past six months, founding member Gregg Allman has been receiving scheduled treatments for Hepatitis C, a virus that, with these treatments, has become curable in recent years. The treatments so far have been successful and the virus has been eradicated from his system.

However, the recovery time from the side effects of the treatment are taking longer than originally projected. Since the Allman Brothers Band are known for exhilarating and exhausting concert performances they don't want to give fans anything less than they have come to expect; so the band members made a group decision to delay the first round of dates. "I'm getting better but I'm still tired," says Gregg. "I need to be at 110% to do the shows the way we do them. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and understanding my Brothers and our fans have given me."

The Wanee Festival featuring Gov't Mule, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival, moe., Levon Helm and others will indeed take place April 11-12 in Live Oak, FL, despite the Brothers' cancellation. Gregg and the Allman Brothers Band appreciate the ongoing support they have always received from their fans and look forward to seeing them this summer. The road goes on forever...

Good Riddance, I hope you get well soon Greg, but maybe try spreading your music around a little more instead of 15 shows in the same theater in NYC

Uhh Jackass, have you ever seen their summer tour's? They go all over the country so don't try and pull that shit. Maybe you my friend, should get out more. Maybe to another city with music?

SCI is average at best....I went to their final little run at Red Rocks last year, because it was supposed to be something special. Ended up leaving the first 3 nights early, because nothing ever really happened, and sold my ticket for the 4th night to some dude dressed as a fairy for 150 bucks. I was glad later because I heard that the 4th night sucked even more than the first 3.

well marcsmall1 that was pretty stupid of you to buy tickets for a band that you didnt like....I'm glad you sold the ticket to someone who actually wanted to be there....

that first comment on SCI owning the beacon is pretty funny. i'm a huge SCI fan, but saying they own the Beacon over the Allmans is ridiculous, even though the Allman Brothers aren't really the Allman Brothers anymore in my opinion. Hope Greg gets well soon. Give me a break marcsmall1, that's just a waste of a comment.

I might have you mistaken with someone else from WV, but you still have some comments that would lead one to believe that you certainly are from WV but somehow managed to escape that god forsaken state and you came across this magic box the rest of us call a computer. Cheese owning the Beacon puhleeez. Now if you wanna say that SCI owned the Fillmore in Denver, well you'd be 100% correct.

Gregg's a warrior and a survivor. Hope he gets back to feeling 110% soon. I'm definitely gonna miss the Brothers at Wanee, but it's still gonna be a great time as always. I can't wait to see what they come up with to fill those prime slots. Maybe Derek Trucks Band both nights now? Maybe a big fat RatDog 2 setter? Maybe, as speculated above, a superheady supergroup jam set? Maybe the kickass Dickey Betts Band will come fill a slot? (not gonna happen, but would be sweet!) Oh, the possibilities!

dude, SCIGR8 guy. I really hate to respond to chat board trash talk but I feel i have valid point here. I first asked politely to not reference me when your posts contain inane references regarding something completly off-topic but then to speak of some implied sexual reference/contact with michael jackson is just silly. he maybe is a sicko in his personal life but the man has a title which refers to him as the king... he made thriller, let it sink in THRILLER. i am not sure your age but thriller is a musical masterpiece. oh yeah remember vegoose 2005 when late night your beloved SCI closed out the first set at the orleans with a 'thriller' cover that brought down the house featuring full visual effects courtesy of peak experiance productions. Sounds like to me if the cheese dig it you love it so wheres the beef? my 2 cents.
