eh, as much as i like phil lesh and friends and a handful of the other acts playing, i dont think the initial line up has too much sass. I mean it could be better, but as it is, it aint so bad. ps, im the first post!

if anyone was there last time phil headlined they now how big this is (especially w/ lineup they have now)...lot of bands listed are regulars at vibes...think there is a lot to come ;)

um this is awesome. with phil and friends and derek trucks alone makes it worth it. plus all the other great bands that are on there and i can garantee that there will be many more great bands tba. no doubt in my mind that it will be better than last year and last year was kick assssss!!

Anybody help me out? I've heard a couple of shows w/ Jackie Green in them, but wasn't too excited about it. For those of you who have seen him w/ Phil live, what's it like? I always thought Jimmy Herring was perfect in there.

PLEASE! I'm not trying to start a "Green sucks and so and so is better," type of thing! Just wondering what some of y'all think.

Jackie Greene is so so. Larry Cambell is so so. the quintet was hot, this band can't match that, but will still be a good time. Phil is the man. i'm calling for a rerun of the phil, haynes, scofield lineup at hunter mtn. last year, with a tour.

I have seen Phil and Friends with Jackie Greene when he played in New York at the Nokia in Times Square. It was amazing. Jackie brings the heat and has great stage presence. He gives the music a new touch, and they also play some of his own stuff as well. Its like seeing a new band, not like seeing the dead. Its a great show.

So, the Neville Bros as a headliner? Or do ya think they'll add another headliner act other than what's presented here? Phil is not that strong of a draw for me. DT & ST are, but other than that ... Meh !!! And ROCvibes is right, a lot of regulars, but that's nothing new. At least at this point, the headliners are different from last years, but I'll wait to see whom else they'll add.

A David Nelson and Donna sit in with PLF would be cool or vice versa Phil or Donna with NRPS. Phils latest band is on fire. And as far as DT & ST if you are going expecting the typical dTb set of songs, then this isn't gonna be it, unless they change it up from the past shows.

Mardi gras had other special guests such as Sless on slide, which adds lots of psych-flavor. I would say that the PLF straight up in this incarnation is not very "jammy" but rather bluesy and ballsy. I did not care for it as much PLQ, Chris Robinson, and Joan Osbourne line ups. I left early in Buffalo last fall. I love the man, but was disappointed.

Yet another Festival Phil is headlining. WTF?

Gathering of the Vibes is a celebration of the music of the Dead. There is no such thing as dead overkill when it comes to this festival.

Langardo show was hot last night. Mardis Gras was a rocker. This band is on fire right now. They are getting tighter and tighter. For me by far the best Phil and Friends lineup. Nobody sounds like Jerry and I like that these guys don't even try to. Its defenitely their own sound. A Phil said last night Larry is "the master". That Unbroken Chain had some excellent playing. Bring on the Warfield!!!!!!!!!!

I am so psyched for this line-up and forget anyone who disses on this because it's a kick ass all around lineup and now I just can't wait until friggin August

I'll check out Langarado clips, sounds like the consensus is that this band has improved over last fall. AOD and Reid are a great band to see and Sam Bush's band is stellar.

Go figure. Phil mines the D-list of trancy jambands to nab a self-absorbed keyboardist, and now he's trying some "electro-phil-tronic" thing? Wonder who took him in THAT direction.

I know GOTV will be great. But for P&F, I say do whatever it takes to get Warren and Jimmy back or slap an actual band name on this act. For Phil to trade on his own name is actually to trade on the Dead name. And this grouping isn't even a decent Dead cover band anymore.
