BENEVENTO/RUSSO DUO AND GRACE POTTER & THE NOCTURNALS TEAM UP FOR SPRING BREAK

Benevento/Russo Duo
SPRING BREAK! Sun, sand, ocean breezes... and MUSIC. Brooklyn genre-deconstructionists, the Benevento/Russo Duo and sizzling hot rockers, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals will hit the road together for a 10-show tour that takes the two acts down the eastern seaboard and into Langerado Music Festival in South Florida before heading back up through the heartland.

After limited touring in 2007, the Benevento/Russo Duo is poised to make a big splash in 2008. The band has been holed up in Brooklyn's Trout Recording Studio with Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Luna) preparing for a different sort of follow-up to 2006's critically-acclaimed release, Play Pause Stop. The band will begin a monthly digital series in March in conjunction with the tour, releasing 2-3 songs per month through their website and other digital outlets.

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals continue to astound audiences from coast to coast while touring in support of their chart-topping 2007 release This is Somewhere, the band has been able to blow away crowds on a nightly basis.

Expect an exciting blend every night of this tour, as the bands will range from gut-bucket blues and soul to experimental post-rock leanings at the drop of a hat.

I love how people from CO complain when one tour skips their town. Please stop complaining Co people, because you guys get a shit load of shows. Live in another town for a year and tell me if they get as many shows as boulder or denver. Stop the crying out there.

Yeah, we get tons of great shows. That's one of the reasons I live herer. But I can still be dissappointed about not being able to see this co-bill. So piss off.

Does anyone know who will play first??

I can only stay for one show, and it's gonna be the duo.

I'll be there! At Mr. Small's, that is. Great venue. If you're anywhere near Pittsburgh you should come check it out...

It seems that Grace is gonna be the opener. That's just a guess though. This looks like an awesome time, has anyone ever been to the Logan Square Auditorium, that can fill me in on if it is a good place to see a show at. I am very hopeful of attending that show.

The duo- yup. that's great.

despite much love from jam-industry folk and relix writers, these dudes recently (last night) played a $15, one-set (barely 90 mins), no encore show. they were supposedly pissed at the show's turnout. (so, take it out on the loyal fans who did make it, right?)

WAS a huge Duo fan and brought 12 friends to this show. many left annoyed or disappointed.

just saying. feel free to give me the "thumbs down" but I can't always fluff up the greats.

They deserve to be called out when they disappoint, just like they deserve to have their press releases and and positive reviews posted all over jambase, jambands, glide, paste, relix, etc....

I'll give the Duo another chance, but I don't know about many others who saw the show.

i'm thumbing down my own comment above.

though brief, that show was great! I regret barking off like that and highly encourage people to check out both Grace P and the NOc's but also The Duo, whose "hardcore grinder jazz" as I call it, still remains highly experimantal and interesting.

very intriguing tour combo-btw.

I think the Ithaca show was a bit weak! The duo came on late, and ended early with no encore. For the most part the show was good with some real high energy moments, but what got me was that they started the entire thing with this ear-wrecking "space" that seemed to mean nothing musically. The show only went uphill from there, but how couldn't it?

I've got to give it them though, they're wildly talented musicians. They just didn't seem to care too much for their fans that night.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have been great each and every time I've seen them, I can only say good things about them.

hey itsice,

was it the ithaca show or the syracuse show?

if so, it appears there's a majority of us who were not thrilled with this past tour.

The Nocturnals are great too everyone!!! Because it's called "Grace Potter and the Nocturnals" everyone seems to assume that it's all about her, but if you go to a show you'll see otherwise. Unfortunately the guys in the band are often swept under the carpet and people perceive it as a solo chick with some rent-a-band when in fact they've been touring and writing together for over 5 years. Here's to the band getting some much needed love. P.S. (If you're reading this Grace, change the name to just "The Nocturnals"!!!!
