Steve Winwood: Nine Lives

Steve Winwood: Nine Lives

Steve Winwood
Currently playing a few gigs with ex-Blind Faith bandmate Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood has inked a deal with Columbia Records. His debut on the label, Nine Lives, will hit streets April 29.

Clapton plays guitar on the album's first single "Dirty City," which hit U.S. radio yesterday (February 25). The song is currently being offered as a free stream from Winwood's Website.

The nine tracks featured on Nine Lives is Winwood's first studio album since 2003's About Time, which he released on his own Wincraft label.

This summer, Winwood will tour the U.S. in support of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

2. Fly
3. Raging Sea

If only Winwood and Clapton embarked on a U.S. tour (w/ Trucks in the mix). However, these tourdates w/ Winwood & Petty look pretty nice...diggin the tune "dirty city" on his site.

Good to see Winwood back. His last album was so kick ass I expect the same from this one. I would give anything to have gotten tix to the Blind Faith MSG shows!!!

Winwood is amazing, but he deserves more than opening for Tom petty, even though I like Tom Petty.

I saw Winwood at the 'Roo back in 2004 before it started to suck. Man what a show he put on. His last album was rockin' so hard, can't wait to hear this one. Winwood is one of the greatest pure musicians in the world. The guy can play anything you put in front of him and make it sound so freakin sweet. It would be nice to see the All Good fest snatch up Winwood for their lineup. Got my AllGood Tix today!!!!!

I'm with joey, winwood at Roo in the pouring rain was sweet, he ripped through some traffic shit and tore it up. Winwood is the man.

Very nice! I was just thinking the other day, how much I would love to hear a new Steve Winwood album. If this new one is half as good as the last one, About Time, it will be amazing.

I just mossied over to Windwood's site to listen to his new stuff. Sounds very good. One thing I found was a set list for the show at MSG. Has JBase been covering this? I must've missed it. Looked like a decent list:

Had To Cry Today

Low Down

Forever Man

Changes

Sleeping in the Ground

Presence of the Lord

Glad/Well All Right

Double Trouble

Pearly Queen

Tell the Truth

No Face, No Name, No Number

Tuesday at MSG was brilliant... Crowd was beat, but what'd you expect, people didn't want to start moving around and accidentally knock over someone's colostomy bag. Anyway, you go see Clapton and Winwood to appreciate utter technical mastery, not really to boogie down. Great set, nice and heavy on the Blind Faith. Winwood can still crow, he can wail on the keys, and he can rip a money guitar solo. Clapton is just so fucking impressive. He is a god among boys.
