Ryan Montbleau Band Donates $1.00 Per Ticket to Worthy Causes in 2008

Ryan Montbleau Band
Ryan Montbleau Band is proud to announce its support for two great non-profit organizations that are helping to make everything a little bit better. Throughout 2008, the band will be contributing 50 cents from each ticket to Rock The Earth, and also contributing 50 cents from each ticket to HeadCount's "Cents for Sense" campaign until the 2008 presidential election. Rock The Earth works with artists ranging from Ani DiFranco to Ozzy Osbourne to The Allman Brothers Band who are concerned with the fate of our public lands, air and water, and acts as advocates to ensure the existence of a sustainable and healthy environment for all. Ryan Montbleau Band's support of HeadCount will ensure that a voter registration team can attend many of their shows throughout the next nine months. Ryan and the guys are very are proud to join other artists and events who are participating in Cents for Sense or been financial supporters of HeadCount - a list that includes artists as varied as the Disco Biscuits, Foo Fighters, Megadeth and Dave Matthews Band.

Does anyone else think its egotistical to name your band after yourself? And yes...I know Dave Matthews and Trey have Jerry all did it.

people made the same comment about JJ grey.. but he changed the name from Mofro to JJ grey and mofro, due to changing record labels, not due to ego.

other than that, making a NAME is ONE of the hardest damn things to do as a musician. Look at Melvin Seals, he has struggled for years to make a name for himself, other than, that fat guy that played keys in JGB.. Its a essential part of growing in the industry.. I cannot blame Montbleu for trying it ..right off the bat.. I do not like Ryans cds, but I hear his show is quite fun. I have a hard time liking his voice, its a white stevie wonder-ish tone.. I am not sure I like it.. its weird. :)

Good job Ryan. It's nice to see someone that gives a damn, other than Bono, that guy sucks.

This is cool but how about show some love for the tens of thousands of dollars and thousands upon thousands of pounds of food that STS9 have raised over the years.

I'm all for this as long as artists don't start advocating Al Gore's carbon tax policies.

I'm sorry buy I don't see why we need an organization like head count. We should all exercise our right to vote in the first place. It was funny to see so many people in 04 wearing those "F*CK Bush", too bad most of those kids wearing them probably didn't vote. Let's not put our country through four more years of nonsense. Why are people bringing up STS9, maybe the reason the article isn't about them is because they have been doing this for years. Wouldn't that be old news? Do you guys think that every band that donates to charity needs props on Jambase for doing it. Besides we have super serial issues such as Manbearpig to deal with as well.

You think STS9 should get more credit for this stuff? What about SCI who actually started all the food donation stuff with Conscious Alliance?

I think Ryan Montbleu should change his band name to "The Ryan Mont-Bleu Cheese Band." Maybe he can add some of the ex-string cheese members to the lineup.

While it is true that we all should be voting in the first place, the fact is that everyone does not. Obviously head-count is a needed entity! I am glad that there is an organization that encourages the non-voting public to get involved. Go Ryan!!!

These boys aren't exactly living in the lap of luxury ya know. And they're giving a good chunk of thier income for causes they believe in...and people come on here and flame em...real nice. Good for STS9 and all the other bands that do good. Strangers Helping Strangers has been collecting food donations for the needy at RMB, Strangefolk, AOD shows for a while now...

Ryan also struggled with the name. He didn't want to come off as egotistical but it was too late in the game to change it. I think he was surprised by the stardom.

Anyways, everyone in the band has a good heart and would not donate to a cause "just for the press", thats going to fade away in a week. They'll be donating all year.

Nothin but love for all the band. (((RMB)))

Yeah, it's a sad state of affairs when somebody can get ragged on just for trying to do some good in the world, especially since Ryan can barely pay his rent. Still, I'll never get tired of those "Bleau Cheese" jokes.

I am absolutely blown away by this incredible group of musicians. Keep up the good work, guys!

I was gonna say the same thing pgeano. I dont know why everyone feels that STS9 should be mentioned here. Ryan Montbleau toured more last year than any other artist on this site. He doesn't make the big bucks like STS9 probably does. Its a pretty big sacrifice for this guy to donate this much considering he's still rather unknown in relation to most of the other jam bands. Its good to see him doing something like this, even if CNN won't don't a story on him.

Very nice gesture. Terrible song that they keep playing on Jamon all the time though. Draw the Line. Just bad. And its on HEAVY rotation over there. A tiny northeast following and that song gets played 4 or 5 times a day and it sucks. Hopefully they have other, better songs. Wish Jamon would play them instead...

On second read, I see that nobody's really raggin' on the band, except for some comments about their name. Could it be that maybe you haven't been exposed to enough of RMB's music? If so, I STRONGLY suggest you check them out. I agree with Gratful Red to some extent; Draw the Line is certainly not one of the band's better songs. It's as if "Totally Serial" Satellite Radio just picked the first full-length song on the new album and tried to make it a single. [And they're supposed to be some kinda different from ClearChannel? Please!] Anyway, check this band out; they've got lots of stuff on archive.org, of course. Here's a short list of some of the band's better songs:

Variety

75 and Sunny

Stretch

Dancing in the Sunshine

A Hand is Beside Me

A Way with Women

Starting Again

L.I.D.S.

Also, the band does awesome covers of Boogie On Reggae Woman, Jealous Guy, That Was Your Mother, and many others. Enjoy!
