And Asheville's best local band will be there, Laura Reed and Deep Pocket.

Seriously, if you haven't checked these guys out yet, do yourself a favor and head over to

Great voice, tight band, no aimless noodle jams, this is real Soul Music.

Kindskatz, i completely agree with you about Laura Reed & Deep Pocket. There's some serious soul comin out of that lady's pipes, everyone should check her out. Except for one thing, brotha. Laura and the Pocket originally hail from BOONE, not Asheville. Gotta keep true to them roots, y'know. Boone's got a great little local music scene goin, hopefully some more bands'll be added. How bout some Do It To Julia, maybe Banana DaTerra?

This festival was alright but probaly the lamest i went to last summer. Definately not a throw down by anyway means. Deerfields is nice but it'll take a lot more additions to get me back there for this festival. I felt like needed a kid or something!

boy that mule sure gets around, don't they? for early birds, the tix seem a little expensive for the lineup, at least by comparison to some other festivals like summercamp.. but still a great deal by comparison to some other festivals we won't start arguing about here.

I don't understand how Warren is going to be in two places at once, North Carolina with Mule and New York City with the Allmans.

In hindsight, it was the BEST festival I went to last year. Completely chill, safe, clean and the music was FANTASTIC from start to finish. My favorite thing about festivals anymore is discovering fabulous music I wasn't familiar with before and AmJam did just that! In fact it was so good, I bought the cheaper tickets this year before any line-up was announced at all.

phunksoulbrotha - unfortunately that's just part of the game when dealing with people you don't know. You should have gotten the chocolates instead ;-)

AND the allman bros shows in NYC are earlier in May - no date conflicts.

As far a Warren with the ABB playing NYC is that Mule will be closing out this festival on Sunday a day after the run. Hayes has got alot of energy to do that run and turn around and head to Asheville to close this out. I hope he is not leaving the Allman's!!!

I am hoping that Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule means a Warren accoustic set and a Mule set later that night. Warren always pulls out all the stops in Asheville.

Brotha - all the things you mentioned are exactly the reasons I am going back to amjam rather than going to summercamp. Lack of sketchy folks. Chill times. Family friendly. People who still care about the music first and foremost. Community.

The best part about this festival is that the stages are about 100 yards apart. If you are so inclined you could not miss a single note of music from the whole festival. There are many hiking trails including one named the Big Hill... it means it! It is definitely an awesome place to bring the kids. I have brought my daughter there for the last 3 years and she is going to go again. There is a kids universe with lots of great activities and even a parade for the kiddies on Sunday morning. Awesome festival put on by great folks...

The reason I go to AmJam instead of the bigger festivals is I have seen the schedules for the others and to me, for my money, you miss more than you see at the bigger ones and they are far more likely to be filled with people that are there because it is the "thing to do". This is a great festival to go to if you like to realax with friends and family, listen to some great tunes and enjoy being outdoors.

Vendors here don't rape you... love me some dollar grilled cheese and pesto mozzadilla!!! Bring back the coffee bus...please.

I really like that this festival is limiting the number of tickets sold. Official site actually says 3,500 tickets available instead of 3,000 as listed. Either way - that would really create a very intimate atmosphere.

Hookah in the Hills next weekend in Logan, Ohio! That will be a very small festival if anyone is in the midwest.

Good times!

This is probably one of the best festival sites in the country and hands down the best festival in the country too. Yes teh family atmosphere is everywhere, that is why i love it. You can leave your car unlocked or your best treasures in your tent. NO ONE will steal it, there is NO SKETCh at this site and that is what music and camping is supposed to be about. I hate the new wave festivals that you have to have a guard protecting your belongings or it is as good as gone.

Hi Jerryskids, The coffee bus folks (The Joyful Cup) were actually there last year. They had a coffee tent in the food vendor section and also did mobile coffee deliveries to the campground! They'll be back this year (but no blue bus - not much room for it there). I bring my kid to this one every year as well. One of my favorite events each year. Stop by the Home Grown Music booth for some kind tunes, Ts, stickers and more! www.HomeGrownMusic.net

Deerfields is only 30 min from my house, so it makes it hard not to attend this. I went last yera and had a great time, but the line-up was better and the tickets were cheaper. Ticket prices are way too high for the acts they have scheduled. I'll probably get in there somehow though.

ADD TOUBAB KREWE. Their late night at AmJam last year was one of my all-time festival highlights. Add them or Tribe (or both) and Deerfields might spontaneously combust.

I am driving from Wsiconsin to be there, I am working it. I have been to Deerfields for Regeneration, Ashefest, Smilefest, and just to visit. Great place, good vibes, and always good people. The line up is sick, Laura Reed and Deep Pockect are definitely worth checking out. The vendors are always delicous and reasonable. One of the best place to have a festi, and I have been to more than I can count.
