For anyone curious about these guys, check out the documentary "Dig!" It's about the friendship/rival of BJM and the Dandy Warhols in their early years. It's pretty interesting and extremely entertaining - some excellent rock n roll moments for sure.

i saw a documentary about these guys. good film but this anton guy is a MAJOR A-hole. He would hit his band mates for not playing something just right. he kicked an audience member in the head from onstage and got arrested. i mean, if he wasn't such a pussy he might have killed the guy. i don't care how talented he is, he's a prick and i wouldn't pay to listen to them!

i love these guys. and dig is definitely one of the best music docs i have ever seen. for those of you who have never listened you should check them out.

Been listening to BJM ever since I saw Dig, and love their music. So, Anton's a dick, luckily I don't have to put up with him. I can just ignore his personality and groove to the music. Which really is good.

i used to like a little of their stuff after i saw dig, but then i kind of stopped listening. then i saw them at monolith festival last year and it just flat out sucked. it's becoming a little obvious that he just does that asshole thing as an act to draw attention, since he can't play a live show worth a damn.

Dig totally sucks. Giving egotistical addicts and a venue to spew a tonne of gob-shit is not entertaining or educational (unless you are into The Real World or shit like that). And that is exactly what the movie is. Not sure what’s entertaining about two mediocre bands that really have never made any original music talking to a camera about how talented they are. The best line is the jack ass from the Dandy’s saying ”I sneeze hits”. What a cunt.

The only good thing about the Dandy's is that the chick takes her shirt off.

As for BJM, it is all about Anton and he makes that known. That would be OK if the guy was talented. He is like Robert Pollard. He can produce 3 albums a year; but each only has 1 good song and maybe two other ideas that are not well executed.

As for downloading all their albums, you get what you pay for. You can download all of mine too. BFD.

couldn't have said it better, kirbrew.. i thought dig! was a sad look at a sub-mediocre rock group.. and it wasn't even well made or interesting. and yes, liberals is a liar and a loser.. i think someone called for just giving him the 'thumbs down' every time he posts and that's what i've been doing..

My opinion

i know I'll buy their album. and fuck Dig! that is a highly inaccurate portrayal of both bands (for the most part). a movie is called a movie as it is to entertain, and edited so. The Brian Jonestown Massacre has more substance than half the bands there are, period. Or perhaps you have no substance. My opinion.

There is no shortage of egomaniacal asshole musicians who think they are the cat's pajamas but anton takes that to another level. I saw Dig and found both of those bands delusional but it was kinda fun to watch the trainwreck. Anton may have missed his calling in advertising because he is great at self promotion. Whether anton is bipolar or has borderline personality disorder or just a junkie is no excuse for some of the stupid shit he says. When he dismisses Eric Clapton for killing his son (poor child fell to his death in a freak accident) you know you are dealing with a worthless human being, marginal talent aside.

I can't believe Anton Newcombe is still alive. He is so self-destructive. It's ironic because he's in fucking love with himself. Anybody hear about how he removed some ribs and took yoga so he could make out with his own asshole?
