mimiluv, yur fucking crazy, bobby is one of the best rhythm guitar players of all time. ratdog is sick, i love phil and friends, but phil turns his bass up way to loud. they just need to get the dead back together and let kimock play with them instead of haynes. don't get me wrong i love warren, but i think kmiock would mesh better with them.

I see ratdog and phil/friends shows in two different ways...ratdog has become more jazzy...very laid back...phil shows seem to be more "jammy" and heavy...I've seen both dozens of times and have had good shows, so-so shows, and great shows (the phil shows in Atlantic City a few years back were great...with robinson and all)...I know that if I'm going to see ratdog, I will expect a very laidback, relaxing night...phil shows will be a little bit more intense...I like the edge bobby brings with ratdog...the jazz sound goes well with some of the dead stuff...phil's singing can be hard to understand sometimes (depending on the venue and the sound)...all in all, it's just nice to have the opportunity to see "the boys" from time-to-time and get different slants on some really great songs...the music might not always be tip-top, CD sounding, but i guess there's DSO (if you need to satisfy that craving...)

Hey quit hating on Milwaukee! Other than the rave/eagles ballroom (same venue) the city has some great theaters. The Pabst is sweet, the Riverside is, in my opinion, one of the greatest venues around. Milwaukee's a lot cheaper than Chicago and must less crowded than Chicago venues. Not to mention driving into the Chi-town during rush hour is worse than getting kicked in the head repeatedly.

mimiluv, you trippin'. if you can't hear bobby's guitar on recordings, i chalk that up as a personal problem for you. he was a anchor for many, many songs. the basic "Definition" of rhythm guitar is something that fills in the cracks and stays in the background. they almost kicked him out in the late 60s and he stepped his game up in a big way and never looked back.

not to mention the songwriting!!! prophet, cassidy, playin, greatest story, saint of circ??? goes on and on.

you're entitled to you opinion of course my friend, but try giving them recordings another listen maybe?

FIGURES, once again, no boston shows. Everyshow i go to is packed. Maybe these guys dont like making money. Dont like performing for everyone. Maybe bobby is offended that i called him out for being a bohemian grover and supporting the CFR candidate obama. All we have here in boston is a bunch of pathetic wannabe pantera, hardcore metal losers. Now i love pantera, iron maiden, metallica, ect. But what we have here is not even close to what they were doing. We have a bunch of kids here who think music is inaudible goth vocals, guitar that is so distorted that you cant even tell if its being played right, and drumming that might aswell be machine gun fire because there are absolutely no breaks or beats whatsoever. Enough already, you bunch of manly men with womens black makeup on, put your instruments down and go cry in a corner somewhere. Please bands that actually know how to play thier instruments, come to boston. We are desparate for notes. The bands here dont play notes, they play a pre-packaged, manucatured, faux-counterculture style. The sound of what they do has little or no significance in thier mind when compared to how it all looks. Id like to refer to frank zappa's tinsle town rebellion. Listen to the enlightened words that are coming out of that enlightened mans mouth. He is talking abuot you, punk/hardcore/emo/pop pussies. If there is anyone out there from new england reading this, please send over a hell yah. You know im right. Im sure there are some good bands hidden in this wretched state, unfortunately they are proabably frowned apon for paying to much attention to the notes they are playing. To any aspiring musicians out there, if what you do looks or sounds like anything youv ever seen on MTV or on the radio, sell your instruments on ebay right away and get a job as stop and shop or something. You obviously dont have the proper intentions in music. Bobby, even though your an ignorant moron, I still love your music. Show us some love around here. Dont come to new york and play a bunch of shows and then turn around and head south. Your garunteed to sell 15k+ tickets everytime you come around. Its not like this is the arctic tundra. We have plowed roads, we have an airport. We even have cable TV.

ReUnion tour???/ Not,,happening if you were one that made it out to Obama show thats as close as it gets,, Both bands have crews, fellow musicians,, they both make good money and sell enough tickets on thier own,,, yeah it would be great,, but business wise,, I don't see it happening,, And its a nice change,, I agree ratDog is much more edgy,, I love it when they sound like a jazz band from the 40's into a blues band from the 60's into a swing band from the 30's listen to McDowell music fest from 07 second set is just that way,, Phil is presise,, I guess that the best way to descibe it,, more of a traditional dead sound,, i love em both,, when i have to choose betwen the two,(whick is common as they sometimes overlap) I can only throw a coin in the air,,Lovin RatdoG comin to Mountain jam,, see ya all there..

. . . . . i like the dead and whatnot, but Bob Weir was the lowlight of All good last year. . . . never have i been more underwhelmed by a show I was looking forward to.. .. . it just left a bad taste in my mouth (but that was quickly cleared by by STS9)

pheelalrights starstarstarstarstar Mon 2/18/2008 03:31PM

STS9 is tasty, as are an enormous amount of the new jam craze. Bobby and Phil need to remember that they owe it all to the Fat Man and not destroy their legacy by faking the GD experience. If you want to see a good impression of that, go see DSO. They really do the experience justice.

My advice for Bob and Phil, enjoy life and let the genre you created continue to develop dynamically. Mickey is deep into the rythm and I appreciate his dedication. No pun intended.

I know this pisses off a lot of heads, but come on...have you really enjoyed P&F or RatDoDo like you used to enjoy the real experience. Hang it up boys. There's so many new bands in this genre that are worth your time and money. This is just my humble opinion, and we know what they're like.
