Ratdog Spring Tour

my undying love for bobby makes it hard for me to dislike ratdog, i just wish they were better. i'll probably still go to one of those ram's head shows though.

the best thing about bobby was his voice, when he used to flip out at the end of songs and just carry it out forever (80's were proably the best for him) like throwing stones had two of those parts, lovelight, woman smarter you get the picture, but his voice is gone, he cant hit those notes and instead he does this yelping sound that sounds a bit painful. love the man love the music but his voice is shot and he could never really play guitar to begin with. so il probably pass, altho i might have gone if kimock was there

Yeah there are things about Jackie Green i like and things i don't but i def enjoyin his singin...... I liked scofield with them a lot as well! Molitz is comin around nice too really started sounded great at the end of fall tour.

listen to 90% of your grateful dead tapes and you can hardly hear bobby (his guitar)in any of them, yeah hes a good rythem guitarist, but that only gets you so far, its all about lead, are you serious? read any grateful dead book bobby used to to piss the hell out of jerry, jerry thought he couldnt play for shit, he even wanted to kick him out of the band a few times (living with the dead). its just that all the chicks liked bobby. here's every bobby solo TWING TWANG TWIIIIING TWANG. i like bobby too but dont over-do it, "best rhythm guitar player ever" hardly, but pretty good.it was always about his voice, not his guitar

I see ratdog and phil/friends shows in two different ways...ratdog has become more jazzy...very laid back...phil shows seem to be more "jammy" and heavy...I've seen both dozens of times and have had good shows, so-so shows, and great shows (the phil shows in Atlantic City a few years back were great...with robinson and all)...I know that if I'm going to see ratdog, I will expect a very laidback, relaxing night...phil shows will be a little bit more intense...I like the edge bobby brings with ratdog...the jazz sound goes well with some of the dead stuff...phil's singing can be hard to understand sometimes (depending on the venue and the sound)...all in all, it's just nice to have the opportunity to see "the boys" from time-to-time and get different slants on some really great songs...the music might not always be tip-top, CD sounding, but i guess there's DSO (if you need to satisfy that craving...)

Have some pride in your home, SCIFREAK. Detroit is where its at. Plenty of good people there. I'm extremely proud to be from the area.
