Billy Joel: Shea's "Last Play"

Billy Joel Set To Be Shea's "Last Play"

Billy Joel
On July 16, Billy Joel will be the last artist to perform at New York's Shea Stadium. Billed as "The Last Play at Shea, From the Beatles to Billy," the show will arrive during the New York Mets' final season at Shea as they prepare to move into their new stadium at Citi Field in 2009.

The historic show will make Joel the first artist in history to perform at all four of New York City's major sporting venues; Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium, Giants Stadium, and Madison Square Garden, where Joel sold out a record-breaking 12 consecutive shows in 2006.

"Shea Stadium is one of the most hallowed venues in rock 'n' roll history and it's an honor to help throw Shea the ultimate concert farewell party," said Joel, in a prepared statement. "As a sports fan and a music lover, I will always have a place for Shea Stadium in my heart. I thank the Mets for giving me and my fans a chance to rock Shea Stadium one last time for the ages."

Tickets go on sale February 16 through Ticketmaster.

His music is great, he's an excellent performer to see live, and as for hundreds of bucks, I just paid $35 to see him in denver... paid a lot more for worse music in my time.

All the people who just talked shit about Billy Joel, don't know nothing about music. Go get your Kenny Loggins or John Denver records out. Or for all you white boy hIP-HOP WANNA Be's! just go back to the FUBU store and by a new hat. Billy Joel is one of the most respected singer/songwriters of all time. UHHHHH Rock 'n' roll hall of fame, singer/songwriter hall of fame! All you people can eat shit, you have no taste for good music.
