Poised to break onto the national jam scene in a big way, San Francisco Jazz, funk, and blues powerhouse, Boomshanka, kick off the summer with a month long tour of the west coast with 20 plus dates! Highlights include a two night stand with Jive, and an appearance at the Celebrate Life With Music Fest in Mystic Hot Springs with Leftover Salmon, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Zen Tricksters, AND Larry.
Unlike their jam band colleagues and famed contemporaries of respective genres, Boomshanka is turning heads and opening eyes with their unique and creative brand of blues-funk-jazz; a sound that is all their own, featuring tight musicianship and excellent songwriting - with two Hawaiians on keys and saxophone and four New
England transplants filling out the lineup on guitars, bass, and drums. Recently they played to a sold out crowd opening for Les Claypool's Frog Brigade at the WARFIELD THEATER and have performed at recent shows with Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and Los Lobos.
With the release of their recently completed debut album produced by afro-poly-rhythm guitarist, Victor Tieku, of Fela Kuti fame scheduled for the Fall and extensive national touring efforts to follow, the beast will be unleashed as the rest of the country will find out what local San Francisco fans have come to know and love over the last three years.
