i saw them in nyc on the 27th, Randolph got on the drums and rocked, the drummer got on the guitar and they attempted, an allman bro's duel, that didnt quite work yet was still awesome, then RR got on the guitar and tore it up as well. this show was a display of true southern showmanship, the hard working musician ethic that has made the south the heart and soul of rock. the yanks were blown away, and the word stuck to it like the allmans peaking at the beacon.

Nice article and great shots. I was at the DC showed on the 29th, they kicked some serious ass. Unfortunately my camera sucks balls and my pics turned out like a bunch blurry people. But otherwise it was an incredible show and well worth being crammed in the front for.

Great Photography...........

I also attended the DC show, but unlike the commenter above, I felt the show to be very boring and stale. After awhile, Robert's lap steel sounds like a clucking chicken. Honestly, I was shocked, because I had really, really high hopes for the show.

Great write up on the CT show though!

I went to NYC. Very good show, I brought a friend from France and he loved it. I hope these guys record a new album soon, and head to all our favorite summer hangouts..(Roo, 10klf, Allgood....)

I was also at the NYC show and got my face thoroughly melted. Their musicianship is truly something to behold. Now I'm ready for a good old fashioned MMW tour this spring!

I was at this show and it was sweaty madness. Great pics, great chemistry on stage, wild crowd (don't know why everyone was so wasted, but I liked it). Randolph's playing can be a little over the top at times. When he slows it down, like midway through the second set, shit is nasty. Second set was blistering. Forgot to mention two of the better moments: Cody Dickinson on electric washboard with sweat pouring off of him while Randolph was on the kit, and and a security guard trying to get on stage so he could see the dudes puffing in the front rows. Luther got about an inch behind while ripping a solo and the audience howling with delight. And Medeski is no slouch on the keys.

I would've loved to catch one of these shows. I wish someone would have written a review of the NMAS new years eve show with Derek Trucks and Susan. One of the best new years I've had. I had forgotten how badass the allstars were and was blown away by Luther and Derek's chemistry onstage. I hope their career paths will join in the future.

One of my best shows ever!!! I peed my pants a bit on I'll Fly Away. Had to giggle when my lil sis was shocked when she caught me singing This Land is My Land. Then she caught the fun of trying to figure out what they were playing. She fell in love with Randolph. Seriously what a cutie!! Looks like a little 3rd grader playin his heart out. Medeski looking like a mad scientist!! It was a great venue too. The staff and manager were so nice and accommodating. To the pricks who were trying to bust into the handi bathroom FU!!

I saw them in Philly. It was pretty much insane from the Joyful Sounds opener. It seemed like every song would crescendo to a close, the crowd would go nuts, and then they would go right back in to that song. This happened multiple times on some songs, but it didn't get old. I loved it. My highlight was their take on Stevie's You Haven't Done Nothing. It rocked and so did The Word. I would love a copy of the Philly show if anyone knows where to find one. Haven't seen it on the org. Peace!
