JamBase | New York Go See Live Music!
F-U-C-K Y-E-S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys have been on the road all fall. I caught the first show of this tour back in October in Flagstaff, AZ. Holy Sh!t. Great show with serious New Orleans tone and attitude. Charlie 2Na, his bro, and Boots R' laid it down. Great collaboration.
Wish there were some words for folks not knowing about this current tour. However, GREAT PHOTOS!
sOLID!!!
The show in Eugene was sick. period. Charli 2Na and Boots really got the crowd going and I couldn't think of a better House band to have than Galactic if I'm a hip-hop artist....
these guys need to go back to instrumental funk. worst galactic show ever
Vocals or not, I couldn't imagine myself having a bad time at a Galactic show.
i agree that their pure instrumental funk is way better.....but like gmoo just said, i know i couldn't have a bad time at a Galactic show
Theres a difference in vocals; for instance when Theryl DeClouet was with them, that SHIT was HOT!!! What I wouldnt do to see pre 2004 Galactic again. I saw them in Minneapolis last year and they had a guy, Mr. Lif?? come out and bust for three songs. I was Not a fan, partly because it was unexpected and partly because I had no Idea who this guy was. Besides there is three songs I could have heard Galactic play. Im going to see them again and have no problems getting down with Charlie 2na. PRE 2004 GALACTIC IS THE SHIT!!
I was at this show at the Roseland....
Galactic was off the hook.... Mr. Lif does suck a big bag of hairy rhino wang.... Boots Riley and Chali 2na, however, were the shizznit.....
why wont these guys come to chicago. i have seen like 30 minutes at a fest in the years i have really liked these guys.
this particular album they just put out, From the Corner to the Block, was a extra showcase of what the music community of new orleans is all about.
Galactic pays tribute to all forms of new orleans music. blues, jazz, funk, and now MC's and rap. Its a testament to their love of the city. I liked the album quite alot, the chali 2 na tune, think back is the best rap tune I ever heard. I never liked any rap til this album was released.. thank you Galactic!!!
They are sick!!! and changing the way hip hop acts tour. A live band behind a hip hop group isnt new but is deffinetly in the minority. That makes a show more energetic, especially if you can rip funky beats like Galctic!!!
There are so many people keeping a closed mind on progress. If you don't know who some of these artists are broaden your horizon.
I was at this show. I thought it was good when galactic played their own songs. We need to remember they have been playing the same funk jam for the last couple of years. Everyone loves it, but its gonna get old sooner or later. They just wanted to try something else out, and I dont think it worked very well since the crowd was expecting a jam funk session and got a hip hop show (superfly?)... Eitherway, RJD2 was there and he ripped the opening act which was a treat. At any rate, it was not a typical galactic show, but def. a fun time.
Saw them in Philly when they were live on WXPN. Really good 45 minute show. The album is also very solid. They don't sound like a jam band they sound like a solid funk backdrop to the MC's. Very well produced but not overproduced.
yo theguykeater, you were not a fan of a guest spot by mr.Lif b/c it was unexpected and you didnt know the guy??? what the hell do you go to shows for?? i always thought everyone was hunting for the unexpected and new... maybe if you said you didnt like his flow or the flow of the show i would understand...anyways corner to the block is a sick cd!"...And Im Out", "Think Back", "No Way", and "Find My Way Home" are all stand-out tracks. cant wait to see these guys again - COME BACK TO WESTERN NY PLEASE!
