RANA FOR THE FIRST TIME

What an amazing show! Last night, 6/12/01, I caught Rana for the first time, at the Wetlands. This was one of the most enjoyable shows that I have ever witnessed live. Their songs/covers have such a wide dynamic range on a stylistic and emotional level. Some are light hearted and pure fun, while others are mysterious, introspective, psychedelic, raunchy, or just plain rocking.

The element of spacial exploration is very prominent in thier jams, yet contained and focused at the same time. Several of their musical styles range from Rock and Roll, to psychedelia, bluegrass, blues, and most of all, "fun!"

The musicians are fantastic. The interplay and communication between band members on stage is always evident, exciting, and fun to watch. The extreme intensity expressed by Scott Metzger through his guitar brings an immediate urgency to the music at hand. All four members put forth 150% effort for the entire time on stage, which went from 11:30pm - 2:45am, with so many encores, that it actually became a three set show. I must also mention that this show was FREE!

Seek out this young, energetic band, first hand, to experience the part of their music which cannot be conveyed in words. You will be very happy you did!

Sincerely,
