Robert Plant at rehearsal from NME.com
NME is on-site at London's O2 Arena for tonight's (12/10) Led Zeppelin reunion gig.

At 9 p.m. GMT, when Led Zeppelin take the stage for the first time in 19 years, NME will be bringing you a live song-by-song account as the gig takes place and after the band leave the stage they will also have the first review of the show straight from the O2 Arena itself.

Head over to www.nme.com/blog for the most comprehensive coverage of Led Zeppelin's reunion. Below is the introduction and first words from NME blogger Alan Woodhouse.

From www.nme.com/blog:

Of course, I know most of you are here for Led Zeppelin, and I know how much they mean to all of you. I'll provide you with all the key details as they happen, which is unbelievably exciting for me... and a bit nerve-wracking!

Most people are inside the arena now, waiting to see the opening acts at this Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert. We've been hearing that among the guests expected are Sir Paul McCartney, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, Chic legend Nile Rodgers and Foo Fighters frontman and Zep fanatic Dave Grohl. This is the man who recently reviewed the band's new Best Of Mothership for NME, and gave it the perfect 10.

Stay posted – we're almost there... and can everyone pray for "When The Levee Breaks"? Cheers Zep buddies, you're all here in spirit!

Back soon,
Alan

Stay tuned at www.nme.com/blog for up-to-the-minute details.

The opening acts are Bill Wyman (I'm guessing with the Rhythm Kings) and Paul Rodgers. It makes since because Bad Co. was the first band that Paige and company singed to Swan Song. I think the music will be sonic, but I am a bit worried about Plant's vocals. Especially, when he has to take the stage after Paul Rodgers whose voice has not faltered at all over the years. I am jealous of everybody there, and I hope they bring the tour over the pond.

That NME blog is crashed. HERE's the setlist so far, with some commentary:

'Good Times Bad Times'

"The set started with a clip from 'The Song Remains The Same' DVD with an American news clip telling of they broke The Beatles' attendance record for a gig in 1973 in California. Simple stage set, video screen behind the band."

'Ramble On'

"'Ramble On' done in extremely slow, bluesy manner, with shards of electric guitar from Jimmy Page."

'Black Dog'

"Page wearing dark shades, quite muddy sound. Crowd singing the 'ah-ah' bits back at Plant."

'In My Time Of Dying'

"Page is playing bottleneck guitar. Plant spoke for the first time before song, saying 'Good evening'."

'For Your Life'

"That's not something you get to hear often these days, Led Zeppelin giving a song its live debut."

'Trampled Under Foot'

"Before starting Plant told the crowd it was the band's attempt to sound like Robert Johnson's 'Terraplane Blues'."

'Nobody's Fault But Mine'

"There are huge screen's dominating the O2 Arena, they split into four sometimes, goes monochrome, colour etc...quite spectacular."

'No Quarter'

"Following the song Plant paid tribute to John Paul Jones, who played keyboards and bass on the track."

'Since I've Been Loving You'

"A bit of a style guide for you, all the band are dressed in black bar Page's who is rocking a white shirt. As for the song they gone for the epic version....very bluesy."

'Dazed And Confused'...

Final set list is:

Good Times Bad Times

Ramble On

Black Dog

In My Time Of Dying

For Your Life - "first ever live performance"

Trampled Under Foot

Nobody's Fault But Mine

No Quarter

Since I've Been Loving You

Dazed And Confused

Misty Mountain Hop

Whole Lotta Love

Rock And Roll

Here's the rest of the setlist:

'Dazed And Confused'

"Settle yourselves in, we're expecting a ten minute version of this classic... it was. At the end of it of the song Plant told the audience 'On guitar Jimmy Page, just as he did on 'The Song Remains The Same' DVD which was filmed in Madison Square Garden in the 70s."

'Stairway To Heaven'

"What do you think happened? Right! From the moment those opening notes rang out the whole audience went absolutely crazy. The atmosphere is electric. Afterwards Plant said "Ahmet, we did it!"

'The Song Remains The Same'

"A fairly straight version of the classic. The sound is still a bit muddy and quiet though."

'Misty Mountain Hop'

"Plant kicked this one off by praising the job drummer Jason Bonham has been doing, stepping into his late father's shoes tonight."

'Kashmir'

"Yet another epic, as this song cracks the ten minute mark. Plant introduced this one declaring 'We've got people from 50 countries here and this is the 51st'. Afterwards they left the stage to loud applause. Will they do an encore? What do you reckon..."

'Whole Lotta Love'

"... of course they come back to deafening applause. And it's an extended version of the old 'Top Of The Pops' theme. Then once more the band leave the stage with a visibly emotional Plant declaring:

'Thanks to everybody. Thanks Ahmet Ertegun, this one for is Ahmet Ertegun as we remember the days when Atlantic Records was the best label on the planet!'."

'Rock And Roll'

"Just time for one more, as after two hours the night reaches its climax, and what a stomper to go out on."

Not too shabby for a bunch of old bloaks. Please for the love of all that is holy, BRING THAT SHOW ACROSS THE POND!!!

I'm pretty sure that they will announce additional shows, and that Plant is just adding some tension to the mix and waiting for tonight's show to end before doing so. i saw the page/plant tour in buffalo in 96'. i think they played the exact same setlist, except opened with immigrant song and minus the stairway. that was a great show, great visuals, and with a full band. i think i might have paid $40. i heard someone paid over $100,000 for two tickets, what a fool. the most i would pay is $100 per ticket and i still think that's steep.

cooper, try not to be a moron and do some research or listen to some old zep shows. they're standard sets were about a dozen songs over 2 hours. did it say 10-minute long dazed and confused up there somewhere? i know i've seen setlists where that would be stretched out to 20 minutes, but i can sympathize with them not doing that nowadays, given their age. hell, if all that drug talk is true (if? haha), it's amazing what they did in the 70s. i'd love to hear a recording of this show!

YAH, im not going to lie, i was just making that stuff up about zep at bonnaroo. but ill say if they do do a tour, bonnaroo will be likely, judging by the fact that john paul jones played with about 10 different bands last year at bonnaroo so its obvious he had fun. keeping that in mind, it will be zeps best chance to play in front of a 80k+ crowd. I bet superfly is blowing robert plant as i type...

What do they think? That someone is actually going to market and distribute video from cell phone cameras?

Hey jewadam, if you didn't know, all of the proceeds from this gig went to charity. You are totally out of line. Zep has been turning down obscene amounts of money every year since 1980 to tour. How are they not true rockers? Robert Plant had a NEW band as soon Zep ended and resisted playing any LZ tunes for 10 years. Ratdog and Phil and Friends played Dead tunes right out of the chute. But who cares anyway, I love all the bands you just mentioned. Is it that bad to call it Led Zeppelin?, you have three out of 4 original members, plus the drummers son. Last time I checked, the Allmans have 3 out of 7. By your logic, they should call themselves the Allman Brother Band. Hey by the way, didn't they cover "Dazed and Confused"? Doesn't Govt Mule also cover Yardbirds and Zeppelin too? I guess Warren likes them.

"Hey jewadam, if you didn't know, all of the proceeds from this gig went to charity. You are totally out of line."

Ok: Did not know that.

It just seems different to me with the other bands - while they do play Dead and Allman related material - they aren't passing themselves off as those bands - just bands related to them. Bob and Phil don't call themselves "The Grateful Dead" since Jerry died - a move that would easily double the amount of money those guys have coming in. Warren primarily plays with Mule - a band that few non JamBasers even realize has any connection to the Allmans.

Anyway - Didn't know this concert was having the proceeds donated to charity - and I agree with your statement that it makes a difference - but wouldn't you be pissed off if they toured again without doing that?

I WILL be pissed off if they tour again because the ticket prices will be completely outrageous. It is fair to note that they also took some innovative measures to curtail scalping: If you bought a ticket to the show you have to provide ID at the gate. If Steely Dan and Neil Young, both artists who traditionally have charged affordable ticket prices are charging between 100-300 bucks per seat God only knows what Zep will charge. Chances are I'll have to go to upstairs in Giants Stadium and pay $250 to watch a video screen of a band playing songs tuned down a whole step to accomodate a 60 year old vocalist with faded pipes and artificial hips. Jones and Bonham Jr. appear to be at the top of their game. Can Jimmy Page still play at his highest level? Probably not, but he is still believable as a lead guitarist. Is it worth it so I can say I finally saw Led Zeppelin? I'm going to see the Giants play the Patriots so I'll probably see this too.

My favorite band of all time. I saw Page and Plant twice and it was great. Unfortunately, their health issues have been well documented (especially Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes) which is what makes a full blown tour a dicey proposition, by Plant's own admission.

As if they need the money!!! ! They still make more off albums than any other band that has ever been reviewed on this website (except maybe Pink Floyd). Absolutely clueless! The reason tickets would cost so much is because they are Led Zeppelin and have tens of millions of fans drooling right now all over the world. They could sellout large stadiums on every continent. What are they gonna do play at the Fillmore for 25 bucks? Get real.

To all the people that have been saying " Jimmy can't play" or "Plant is to Old" or "its about the money".

The recording proves you wrong. Yes the torrents are avaliable. They killed it. Absolutely epic! True rock stars! Loud, heavy, lots of improv, great vocals, live debut, best Kashmir I have ever heard! on and on! This was one for the ages!! $250.00 would have been a small price to pay for this show.

That is always a great idea. Many great young bands are playing in clubs for 20-30 bucks. The lure of the Zep will prove too strong, however. The demand for tickets is going to be insane. This band is probably more popular than ever due to an entirely new generation of devotees that have been added to an already massive fan base. Their are rumors of an MSG run. Can you say $500 minimum?

I just think it's freakin amazing that we can watch a cip of a show from the previous day - just from someone recording it on their cellphone or digicamera. 27 years ago at the last Zep show the only people who would see it were the bootleg videographers, and they had no way to post it publicly. Technology is wonderful and life is miraclulous....just a realization of the wonders of the world.

My apologies for my previous cynicism. They sound tight, rehearsed, and polished. Even a diminished Robert Plant vocal range is better than 95% of the lead singers out there today. Page sounds sharp and JPJ and Bonham Jr are kicking it. Please come to NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!
