Official Video | Pink Floyd - Careful With That Axe, Eugene

As hard as it is to believe, Pink Floyd didn't have any of their shows professionally filmed for a bulk of the '70s. In fact, this newsreel clip from 1975 is thought to be the only pro-shot footage of Floyd to surface from the era between 1973 and 1977. Just before that period, the band did commission cameras to film at least part of their June 1972 performances at The Brighton Dome and so far Pink Floyd has shared a snippets of two songs on the 2012 Dark Side of the Moon Immersion Boxset.

Pink Floyd has just posted one of those tunes from Brighton '72 - "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" - on their Official YouTube channel. "Filmed in June 1972 at the Brighton Dome, this performance of 'Careful With That Axe, Eugene' was during one of two shows at the venue which were added to the end of the initial tour of The Dark Side Of The Moon. This was following the 'severe mechanical and electric horror' experienced at the venue on the first night of the tour, as they attempted to perform the new work live for the first time, but were beset by technical issues at the start of 'Money," reads a note on Pink Floyd's Facebook page.

We're hopeful that one day more footage from Brighton will surface, but for now check out "Careful With That Axe, Eugene":
