Remembering Jerry Garcia | Jerry's Greatest Video Moments

Today we remember Grateful Dead front man Jerry Garcia, who passed away on this date 19 years ago. Most Deadheads have an interesting story about how they heard the news or how they spent the day after finding out the iconic guitarist/vocalist had died. We'd love to hear your story, so please leave a comment below or direct a tweet at us explaining how you found out about Jerry's death.

One of the crazy things about that day was how much coverage Garcia's death received from the mainstream media. YouTuber DonFlatt assembled nearly 80 minutes worth of clips from August 9, 1995:

Now that we've gotten the sad part out of the way, let's focus on the good times. There are dozens of full show Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band videos, but for those who are looking for a more focused Jerry viewing experience two Deadheads with YouTube channels have put together relatively short (15 and 10 minutes respectively) compilations of Garcia's finest moments captured on video.

LoloYodel compiled Jerry Garcia Greatest Video Moments with the aim of covering the spectrum of the Dead's 30-year experience in chronological order:
