Les Claypool Auctioning Off Pachyderm Bass For Charity

If you've always wanted to own a bass played by Primus front man Les Claypool, here's your chance. Les has put a Pachyderm Bass he used for three months of Primus tour in 2013 up for auction to raise funds for Jacob's Heart.

Jacob's Heart exists to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and support their families in the challenges they face. The organization helped the family of Claypool's nephew Matthew as the infant battled leukemia.

Here's what Les had to say about the bass:

Pachyderm Bass #122312003

This particular bass #122312003 was delivered to me on December 29th, 2012. I’ve always found that maple instruments have a very forward attack and this bass is one punchy bastard. The bottom end is solid yet has a knocking hollowness to it when the low E is struck with the thumb. The upper pluck is bright and when playing pizzicato the notes leap off the fretboard. This bass is a fog cutter of an instrument with it’s forward punch and growly finish. I used this bass on specific songs that needed a bit more edge during the Primus tour’s in March in Mexico, May - June in the US and June in Alaska of 2013. With it’s gorgeous birds eye patterned maple and dark chocolate marbled cocobolo wood pick guard, this is our first blonde bass to be offered to the public. - Les

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these basses will go to Jacob's Heart. Jacobs Heart exists to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and support their families in the challenges they face. Jacob's Heart helped Baby Matthew and his family and continues to provide support to parents and families in Northern California.
