New Monsoon's Winter Trek

NEW MONSOON ANNOUNCE WINTER TREK IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM NEW MONSOON V

New Monsoon
San Francisco-based quintet New Monsoon is gearing up for a winter run that will take them from a two night stint in Austin including New Years Eve through the Rockies and the West Coast including a headline date in its hometown in early February at Bill Graham's legendary Fillmore.

Since its inception in 2001, the band has steadily grown its fan base with an active touring schedule highlighted by appearances at key festivals including Austin City Limits, High Sierra, Bonnaroo, JamcCuise and Summerfest.

New Monsoon takes its audience on a multi-faceted musical journey marrying acoustic and electric instrumentation, fusing numerous genres from bluegrass to reggae, jazz to funk all in one rock & roll package. In fact, one of their popular live recordings, released in 2005, New Monsoon Live at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival was nominated for a JAMMY award as live album of the year.

The band's newest release is New Monsoon V and was produced, mixed and engineered by John Cutler, best known for his production work with The Grateful Dead on the platinum release In the Dark (co-produced with Jerry Garcia) and Without a Net (co-produced with Phil Lesh) and the Jerry Garcia Band's How Sweet It Is.

New Monsoon will be part of JamCruise this year in early January and will also join the Ski Jam for the second year in a row in Steamboat Springs, CO on January 12. At Ski Jam, the band will join other notables including North Mississippi Allstars.

Don't miss your chance to catch New Monsoon's exhilarating live shows near you.

They played langerado last year and then went right back up north with out stopping to play any show on the way home.

This makes no sense. the tour should work u back through the region!!!!!!

I was actually just reacting to the post two post above me, in which someone predicted that people will start bitching about the lack of midwest dates. I actually have no complaints, I just saw New Monsoon a couple months back in Madison. I've also seen yonder, sts9, wsp, Bela Fleck, Umphreys, Pnuma, Lotus, in the past 2 months right here in Wisco - I've got nothing to complain about, and neither do most midwesterners

Cant wait for the Fillmore. I became a born again Monsooniac at Las Tortugas Halloween fest. Its great to somehow hear a band in a new light, get a side of them that you never have before. They always seemed kind of too serious for my tastes, or too Allmans for my taste, but I still loved them. Now the seriousness becomes a signature sound, and the bluesy guitar work has distunguised itself in my ears as some kind of New Monsoon Landscape like no other.

Seems like a choppy tour, but maybe midwest is coming soon? Either way, stoked for this underrated band, may they prosper.

This sucks, same exact days as Bisco's CO run. My timing with New Monsoon is always rough.
