Flashback | Buddy Guy Duels With Derek, Warren & Trey

We'd like to wish the happiest of birthdays to legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy, who turns 78 today. The Louisana native bridged the worlds of blues and rock in a way no one before him had and one of Guy's 1965 performances in England even inspired Eric Clapton to form Cream. Buddy is still going strong as he continues to tour and put out new albums on a regular basis.

In honor of Buddy's birthday, let's look back at his 2009 appearance at the Beacon Theatre in NYC as part of the Allman Brothers Band's 40th Anniversary residency. Watch pro-shot footage of a "Southbound" that sees four of the best guitarists in the game - Buddy Guy, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and Trey Anastasio - work their magic. Guy might be the oldest man on stage, but he shows the youngsters what's up with his blistering solo.
