Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of The Who announced what they've called
beginning of a long goodbye" this morning by revealing the first leg of their The Who Hits
50 World Tour. The tour will start with a run of U.K. shows in November and December. According to Townshend, this tour will be the last
major jaunt for the band.
Townshend and Daltrey performed a short acoustic set at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London
today as part of the tour announcement. The tour's setlist will include "hits, picks,
mixes and misses" from throughout The Who's career according to Townshend. Today, nine
U.K. shows were announced with the first set to take place on November 30 in Glasgow and
the leg currently set to end with a show in London on December 17. Pete also revealed at
the press conference/performance that he will soon enter the studio with Roger to record a
follow-up to 2006's Endless Wire.
Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday at 9 a.m. local time.
