Jack White kicked
off an extensive tour in support of the soon-to-be-released Lazaretto LP last night
at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, OK. By the end of the 20+ song performance, the capacity
crowd had been treated to material from a wide range of White's projects including his
solo albums and his work with The Raconteurs and The White Stripes. There was even a Hank
Williams cover and a Led Zeppelin tune thrown in for good measure.
White opened with The White Stripes' gem "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" and later
would perform "Fell In Love With A Girl," "Hotel Yorba," "We're Going To Be Friends,"
"Icky Thump," "Hotel Operator," "Cannon," "You've Got Her In Your Pocket," "Seven Nation Army," "Little Bird" and "My
Doorbell" from his time with Meg White. The Raconteurs' repertoire was represented by "Top
Yourself" and a version of "Steady As She Goes" that White and his band worked into Led
Zeppelin's "Lemon Song." Jack played a number of tunes off his new release,
Lazaretto, with the title track, "High Ball Stepper," "Temporary Ground," "Alone In
My Home" and "Three Women" each making the setlist. The show came to a close with a rendition of "Seven Nation Army" that saw "Little Bird" worked into it. Next up for White is a performance at Wild West in Lubbock, TX tonight followed by a
headlining set at Houston's Free Press Summer Festival on Sunday.
