Last night Umphrey's
McGee kicked off a tour focusing on the Western States at The Wilma Theatre in
MT. The band dusted off a three songs they hadn't played yet this year and offered a pair
of intriguing "song sandwiches" at the tour opener.
At the end of a first set featuring material from throughout their career, UM took the
"Come Closer" mashup of The Beatles's "Come Together" and "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails off
the shelf. It had last been performed on August 21, 2013 - a span of 49 shows. The second
set featured an interesting "Nemo" > "Eat" > "Nemo" pairing and saw the return of UM
original "Uncommon" after 89 shows. For the encore, the sextet inserted the 2014 debut
Dan's "Hey Nineteen" in the middle of "Phil's Farm."
Earlier today Umphrey's shared a clip of "All In Time" from their recent hometown run in
Chicago that utilizes GoPro cameras giving us a view of what it's like to be a rock star.
