The White Stripes Team Up with Beck

The White Stripes
The White Stripes and old buddy Beck have linked up to work on B-sides for the Stripes' new single "Conquest."

Word from the band's site says: "Jack and Meg recently recorded the new tracks with Beck, who co-produced all three tracks during a recording session in his living room and also contributed vocals and piano to 'It's My Fault For Being Famous' and slide guitar on 'Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap'."

The Stripes also wrote about the idea for the new "Conquest" video, saying: "The video follows an explosive - if unconventional - love story that pits man against bull in the ultimate conquest. To make his performance as authentic as possible, Jack White trained extensively with famed bullfighter Dennis Borba."

"Conquest" will be released in three 7-inch formats - one black, one white and one red colored.

Each single is set to "include a Mondo Toro trading card featuring the legendary, near-mythical matadors El Sloth, El Bianca Rosa and El Perdador. Despite being from early 1900's Spain and Portugal, these bullfighters look strangely familiar. U.S. copies of these singles will also include a different poster."

The black vinyl will feature the track "It's My Fault For Being Famous," the white will feature "Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap" and the red with feature "Cash Grab Complications On The Matter."

All formats will be released on December 31.

So they put out singles with Beck, cameras with Holga and Diana, made Stunning videos and bought ever black, white and red piece of clothing on the planet, BUT...WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TOUR OF CITIES NEVER PLAYED??? Maybe I missed the "We will be rescheduling these shows for these dates" press release but if not, What's the deal?

I need me some Jack, Jack!

"conquest" is a gimmicky piece of garbage, but here's to those b-sides...

I down with the cock. Conquest is a miserable song on an average album. Jack should stick to the blues.

As for Beck, it is pretty obvious that he has been listening to LCD Soundsystem. Ripoff!!! Think that the juices are running dry. He needs to spend a little less time on the E-meter.

As for bullfighting, I root for the bull. You gotta' have a pretty small dick to be a bullfighter. Hope they all get gored to pieces.

Meg still in the band? Too bad.

The White Stripes and Beck. I'm not sure which one I dislike most.

Never seen the Stripes but Beck was the most disappointing live performer ever.

I went to see the White Stripes in Boston this year. They definitely put on one helluva live show. I have ever seen Beck perform live, but I used to be into them hardcore. I always love it when bands put out singles on vinyl. Not many people appeciate vinyl so much, but I am not one of them.

The only problem I have with "Conquest," is I recently heard on a television commerical. Not sure what product they were selling, but I was surprised to hear this on the tube to say the very least.

It wasn't being sung by the White Stripes or Beck, so I can only assume this someone covered the song, or it is not a White Stripes original, but I could be wrong.

I was curious about the EBay ad as well (around the dog track). Is that a White Stripes original or a cover?

Anyone know for sure? Kayceman?

Conquest is an old 50's tune that Patti Page made famous. that's the one in the commercial. some tuned-in ad exec exploited the fact that they put it on icky thump.
