Last week we mentioned that Billy Joel had
announced a U.S. date set for Florida in January and wondered aloud if he'd play a New
Year's Eve show. Well, the answer to that question is a resounding "yes" as Joel has just
announced a December 31st show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
The show marks Joel's first NYC performance since 2008. “We are proud that Billy has
to make Brooklyn his first arena concert in New York City since 2006,” Brett Yormark, CEO
Barclays Center said in a statement announcing the event. “When we opened Barclays Center
months ago, Billy was one of the must-have artists for our building and we are thrilled
he will be ringing in the New Year on Brooklyn's biggest stage. New York City born and
Island raised, Billy is an iconic New Yorker and we are looking forward to a memorable
Ben Folds Five will open the show. Tickets go on sale November 9 at 10 a.m. ET.
