Full Show Friday | Elton John Old Grey Whistle Test 1974

For today's edition of Full Show Friday we take the JamBase Time Machine back 39 years to an outstanding performance from rock royalty Elton John. U.K. television program Old Grey Whistle Test aired an hour's worth of Elton's show at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on Christmas Eve 1974.

The professionally-shot video below starts off with a funky take on "Bennie & The Jets," before a double shot of Beatles with "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "I Saw Her Standing There." Elton then works through big hits "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me," "Honky Cat," "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" and "Crocodile Rock." From there, the set includes "The Bitch Is Back," "Your Song" and a timely version of "White Christmas" featuring Rod Stewart and Gary Glitter.
