Papa Mali on Tour

Papa Mali on Tour: Dates with Widespread Panic, B.B. King and Derek Trucks Band

Papa Mali
Coming off of a spectacular Halloween show at Stubb's in Austin, TX (along with surprise guests Stanton Moore, Robert Mercurio, and Jeff Raines from Galactic), Papa Mali will be touring extensively starting November 9 supporting Widespread Panic with his all-star project, Rhythm Council (also featuring Henry Butler, Kirk Joseph and Robb Kidd). The tour will take his band from the southeast up the coast for three dates supporting B.B. King in New York, Vermont and Massachusetts. Papa Mali then travels through southern Florida for three shows, a two-night stand in San Francisco, and finishes with a four-day Hawaii run with The Derek Trucks Band.

In support of his second studio release, Do Your Thing (currently on the Grammy ballot for "Best Contemporary Blues Album"), and with recent attention from publications such as Guitar Player Magazine, Dirty Linen, Hittin' the Note, Downbeat, Blues Revue and Blueswax, it seems that word is spreading for this exciting project.

"Anyone who has experienced one of his all-night raves will testify that the man is way more than funky. He's a musical shaman." – Jimmy Leslie Guitar Player Magazine

Papa Mali deserves a lot more attention, he's one of the most tasteful musicians out there. Great songwriter and player.

saw him with galactic in 2006 in ATL, he opened and came out and did a few tunes with them too. I had never seen him before and I enjoyed it.

He does have mad soul.. I did not realize he was the rhythm council.
