Gov't Mule | Legendary Guitarist Guests In Detroit And Shout! Listening Party

Last night Gov't Mule visited The Motor City for a performance at The Fillmore in Detroit. The band continues to focus on material from their new album, Shout!, which finally comes out on Tuesday. For the evening's encore, Warren Haynes and Co. brought out Detroit blues-rock legend Jim McCarty for covers of Freddie King's "Goin' Down" and Albert King's "The Hunter."

McCarty, who has performed with Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels, the Buddy Miles Express, Cactus and The Rockets, and recorded with Jimi Hendrix and Bob Seger, is no stranger to the Gov't Mule stage, having sat in with the band a number of times over the years.

In other Mule-related news, this Sunday morning Allman Brothers Band/Warren Haynes guru Rich Granaas hosts a special edition of House Of Haynes in which he'll spin both discs of Shout! just two days prior to its release. The show airs between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET via Deep Nuggets. Look for giveaways and more on this Sunday's episode.

UPDATE: SiriusXM's Jam_ON will have a Shout! listening party of its own with Warren Haynes taking listeners on a track-by-track "tour" of the new release with some help from a few of the guest vocalists. The Warren Haynes-hosted program debuts this Monday at noon ET and can be heard again Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET and three times next weekend (Friday at 8 a.m. ET, Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and Sunday at 2 p.m. ET). Tune in to Channel 29 to hear it.
