Dave Matthews Band Busts Out #34 After Nearly Six Years At The Gorge

Back in 1993 Dave Matthews wrote a song called "#34" that was inspired by the death of percussionist Miguel Valdez. Valdez sat in with the Dave Matthews Band a number of times before his tragic death. "#34" was featured on DMB's breakthrough 1994 album Under The Table And Dreaming, but seemed to have been retired from the band's live repertoire after a number of 1993 performances. The song made a brief comeback, without the lyrics found in the 1993 versions, in 2005 then again disappeared with the exception of an October 5, 2007 performance at Hollywood Bowl. Throughout this summer Dave and members of his band have teased "#34" leading to a full version, complete with lyrics, last night at The Gorge.

Last night's take on "#34" was the first full version of the song since that 2007 show in Hollywood. UPDATE: Watch ChesterCopperPot5's handiwork on this multi-cam, HQ audio clip of "#34":
