Steve Winwood Sits In With The Allman Brothers Again In Raleigh

Following three shows with no collaborations, The Allman Brothers Band and Steve Winwood are making up for lost time. After Winwood sat in with the Allmans on "I Found A Love" and "The Weight" in Saratoga Springs, NY on Wednesday night the two acts performed the same songs together last night at Time Warner Cable Pavilion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC.

Winwood opened the festivities with songs from his time in the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and his solo career. The Allmans opened their headlining set with "Statesboro Blues" and reeled off classics "Done Somebody Wrong" and "You Don't Love Me" before offering the North Carolina crowd one of their newest originals - "Spots Of Time," penned by Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes. The sit-in action started with a cover of "Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home" that featured Richard Daily on drums and Paul Booth on sax. Later in the set, the Allmans brought up Winwood for the aforementioned covers of "I Found A Love" and "The Weight." Just before the "No One To Run With" main set finale, the Brothers welcomed Winwood band members Cafe da Silva and Jose Neto for the instrumental "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed." A "Whipping Post" encore brought the show to a close. The Allman Brothers Band finish their run with Winwood tonight in Charlotte.
