DVR Rewind: Mavis Staples Visits Conan - I Like The Things About Me

MAVIS STAPLES AND BAND PERFORM "I LIKE THE THINGS ABOUT ME" FOR CONAN

Yesterday legendary gospel singer Mavis Staples celebrated the release of her new album, One True Vine, by visiting TBS's Conan to perform "I Like The Things About Me." One True Vine marks Staples' second collaboration with Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy, who produced the album and plays nearly all the instruments on the LP.

On her new album, Staples mixes gospel tracks such as "Woke Up This Morning (With Jesus On My Mind)" and "Jesus Wept" with more secular fare such as a cover of Funkadelic's "Can You Get To That" and Wilco's "One True Vine." On the studio version "I Like The Things About Me," Staples' distinctive growl is backed by Jeff Tweedy's fuzz bass and a steady beat by 17-year-old Spencer Tweedy.

For her visit to Conan, Staples performed "I Like The Things About Me" with her solo band. Let's take a look:
