Gov't Mule Welcomes Herrera, Ginty And Nicki Bluhm & Gramblers In Red Bank

ANOTHER GUEST-HEAVY NIGHT FOR GOV'T MULE IN NEW JERSEY

Last night at the historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ; Gov't Mule continued their trend of loading shows with guest spots. Nicki Bluhm and members of her Gramblers, keyboardist John Ginty and harmonica wiz Hook Herrera all made appearances during the two-set show near the Jersey Shore.

After a first set loaded mainly with Mule staples, Warren Haynes and Co. brought out old friend Herrera for a take on blues classic "Smokestack Lighting" that served as the filling of a "Lay Your Burden Down" sandwich. Early in the second set, Bluhm emerged along with New Jersey's own John Ginty for a cover of "Somebody To Love." Ginty stuck around for Haynes' trademark "Soulshine." Both Herrera and Ginty added to Mule's "32/20 Blues," while Gramblers lead guitarist Deren Ney helped out on "The Hunter." Ney's Gramblers band mate bassist Steve Adams replaced Mule bassist Jorgen Carlsson on the "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" and end of "The Hunter" that followed. Ney, Herrera and Ginty also contributed to "The Hunter" sequence.

For the evening's encore, Ginty and Herrera joined Gov't Mule for a stirring take on John Lennon's "Working Class Hero."
