RAINY WEATHER LEADS TO CANCELLATION OF TODAY'S
GREAT GOOGAMOOGA FESTIVITIES IN BROOKLYN
Last year's inaugural Great GoogaMooga food/music festival received lots of criticism
thanks to the lengthy lines festivalgoers had to deal with at the two-day event held at
Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Those purchasing VIP packages last year received refunds after
food and drinks ran out quickly. While we heard good reports about the first two days of
this year's three-day fest, event organizers have just canceled today's festivities.
The weather in New York City has been rainy all day with more bad weather expected later
today. Cults, De La Soul and Kool and the Gang were among the bands scheduled to perform
at today's GoogaMooga 2013 finale. Kool and the Gang replaced Sharon Jones & The Dap-
Kings, while early this morning James Murphy bailed on his performance today due to a
"family emergency." Gates were supposed to open this morning at 11 a.m. ET,
but never did leading to a long line of festivalgoers assembling, before organizers
finally announced the cancellation.
In a tweet just tweeted, GoogaMooga organizers made the decision to cancel today's
festivities along with the NYC Parks Department and the Prospect Park Alliance "in the
interest of safety and prevention of damage to the park." Those who purchased VIP tickets
for today's event will receive full refunds.
