Particle Moves Ahead With Special Guest Guitarists

Steve Molitz - Particle by Valerie Levinsohn
Particle is pleased to announce they will be joined by guitarist Barry Sless October 27 at Nelson Ledges. Barry and Steve have shared the stage over the years in Phil Lesh & Friends, and Particle is happy to welcome him as our guest this weekend. The band is also excited to announce that guitarist Josh Clark from Tea Leaf Green will join Particle in NYC at The Highline Ballroom on November 2. TLG made their NYC debut opening for Particle back in August of 2002, and we're thrilled to team up with Josh once again in the city that never sleeps for this special late night show. A limited number of tickets are still available at ticketweb.com

Winter Tour With Josh Clark!
In case you miss him in New York, you'll get another chance to catch Tea Leaf Green's Josh Clark share the stage with Particle as he joins us for the majority of our Winter Tour. Josh will appear November 29 in Milwaukee, WI through December 6 in Columbia, MO, and then again from December 11 in Birmingham, AL through the end of the run in Austin, TX. All tour dates and details are listed below, and an announcement of who will join the band December 7, 8, 9 will follow shortly. Particle NYE Run!
This year's NYE run will kickoff with a two night stand at Winston's in Ocean Beach, CA on December 27 and 28. It's always an honor to play The Great American Music Hall, and this time is no exception. The band will be headlining the historic venue on December 29 in San Francisco, CA before heading to the Rockies for a two night NYE celebration at Cervantes in Denver, CO December 30 and 31. i don't remember sless & molitz being in Phil & Friends concurrently...

in fact, i'm pretty sure they weren't. if so, it was only for a few shows and not "over the years".

The addition of Clark just raised my interest level in the Dallas show, now I just need the rest of TLG to show up.

Particle lives on! Sorry to all the people who hate Particle. But its a good day for the Particle People. I can't wait to see what Josh Clark will add to Particle's sound. Maybe this will bring some Tea Leaf Green fans to these Particle shows.

anyone else think a little wierd and pathetic that wouldn't even mention ben ever having been in the band? josh is great but particle will drive him away like they did do to three other guitarists. charlie is more likely to play with ben than ever playing with particle again...who is interested in that show --> charlie, ben, and scott? would it be called farticle?

as far as the music is considered this is a great move to bring josh on. as far as particle is considered this move is terrible...josh's licks are sure to reveal just how shitty particle actually is. maybe it'll make people realize that.

okalrightic has a good point. charlie, ben, scott--all fine guitarists. I think they were WAY above particle's musical level. particle is lucky to attract good guitarists, but at some point, their luck will run out. it's just the law of averages.

JOsh is one of the better young guitar players out there today. He has the potential to be truly great if he remebers to not get in the tendency to be lazy like they sometimes do. AT their best Tea Leaf Green is one of my favorite. I would be more excited to see Josh alone. I appreciate that some of you don't dig on TEa leaf, I do

Josh will officially be the best guitarist they ever had.

Hitchcock was a stupid shredder. Ben was cool and I was digging him, but too late now.

Particle if they keep to their standards of instrumental funk jam, should be able to keep attracting crowds, regardless of how many dummies on jambase say they suck, with out giving any concrete reasons to back it up. :P

imo metzger was the best guitarist particle ever played with. particle sucks mostly because of steve's noodling...although they can be really high energy and fun at times they are more often boring and lame. they're jams don't ever seem to go anywhere and they take very few risks. i agree bobertjohnson, particle with vocals was expecially hideous (one risk i totally could have dont without)

the only tune I heard vocals on was groove is in the heart, Ben sang it.

It was not bad, if anything, it was a fresh take on a classic tune.

I enjoyed it. Now, well, since Ben was the vocalist, I have no idea what to expect. All I can say is, the one show I saw last year was cool, I would go see them again. peace.

Yeah I guess that I wouldn't exactly say that this band sucks, for the mere fact that they have accomplished something musically in forming a band that plays shows with international recognition. I am also still at a loss how some people describe some groups "jams" as "noodling", or say that their "jams" go nowhere, because literally speaking that is impossible, for if someone just immediately stopped playing this would be the end of the song. I think what people are really meaning when they say these comments is that maybe during a certain section of their songs, the music they play becomes redundant, or is played with too little emotion to invoke any sort of feeling in the band's audience. I think if we all just take a little more time to describe what we saw in this forum, we can all get our point across better. Please guys, don't be that guy that uses meaningless and overused terms to describe something that someone poured their heart and soul into. I say all this not to really defend Particle, because I myself, am not a fan. Any band that tries to change line-ups constantly and add and take away a vocalists, just has to have some sort of chemistry issue amongst it's members. But think about it guys, wouldn't it be nice to read an article in Jambase without someone trying to accuse a band of committing first degree "noodling". Thanks to anyone who read my wordy comment, next time it won't be as long.

I was a huge Particle fan, then they kicked out Charlie, kept adding different guitarists, lyrics, and members of the bands. I did not even go to their shows the last few times that they were in my local area.

I still would enjoy their sound but you can only screw with your fan base fo so long before they eventually give up or move on(money, time) to other Bands(Lotus comes to mind.)

TLG is great but this just sounds like another part time gimmick. The proof of their decline is in the venues that they seem to be playing. They are almost the same or smaller than the places they were just playing, 3 or 4 years ago.

I like how everyone is an expert and such a better musician than a band who has successfully toured the country several times, built a strong and loyal fan base and continues to succeed. Meanwhile I've never heard of you, you do not have a strong fan base and probably most of you aren't even in a band and have 0 inkling of what it takes to consistently pull off awesome shows. According to you, every show, every set, every song and every note should be utter musical perfection while the entire band is improvising in a different venue with different sound techs of varying abilities (or lack thereof), different acoustic properties (or lack thereof), different sound equipment, outdoors in varying weather conditions and under varying degrees of fatigue and stress... Since you all know so much better than the people who are succeeding at something you are merely a fan of; I cannot wait to hear what must be the manna-from-heaven sound of your band!
