Bonnie 'Prince': Ask Forgiveness

Ask Forgiveness From Bonnie 'Prince' Billy

The prolific Bonnie "Prince" Billy returns to delight and intrigue with Ask Forgiveness set for release in the U.K. on the November 19 through Domino Records.

A collection of cover version victories, effortlessly making each one of these songs his own, having taken them within, loved them — and then singing them out again in his own idiosyncratic interpretation.

Covering a handful of wildly diverse artists as varied as Bjork and R. Kelly, these renditions were recorded off the hoof in Philadelphia with a stripped down ensemble including Meg Baird of Espers on acoustics and vocals, Greg Weeks on electric guitar, aided and abetted by Maggie Wienk on cello.

Following the release of the wonderful The Letting Go, this year Bonnie "Prince" Billy has appeared in the "Hip-Hopera" phenomena - "Trapped in the Closet," and an hilarious cover of Kanye West's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" with comedian Zack Galifianakis.

Maybe there's a big game show style spinning board that guides him, or maybe a tribal shaman he consults, but there's no way to anticipate what the Bonnie "Prince" is going to do next. We wouldn't have it any other way though right?

You lucky people can Ask Forgiveness now and pre-order from Domino Mart.

agreed, despite being a jam fan, the ignition remix is my favorite song of all time.

Did you know that Whitney Houston's debut LP, called simply Whitney Houston had 4 number one singles on it. It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves.it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.

one bad mf'er right there . Hearing him cover Skynyrd's Every Mother Son made me a bigger fan of his. This should be a fun album.

Good News. Everything this mans touches is pretty fantastic. One more reason why Louisville's got one of the most underrated music scenes in the country. I saw him play I See A Darkness in its entirety with all the original musicians earlier this year and it was one of the better shows I've ever seen. I wish he would tour more.
