Saw these guys open for Arcade Fire and all I have to say is: 1 trick pony. All of their music sounded exactly the same. I even think they may have played the same song twice, thats how monotonous it was. I was on board at the star t of their set but was then reminded of that Bruno segment on The Ali G show when he is talking to some club guy in Miami and he describes the club as "laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

anyone else feel me? I need some peaks and valleys in a set of music. Main reason why I could never get into STS9. I'm not doubting these guys musicianship, but they just deliever the same level of intensity for an hour and it gets stale.

jonathanleeder - I feel ya. This is only one of a few bands that I can really say I enjoy their studio work better than their live performances. From what I understand all the album work from conception to production is done by James Murphy only. That being said, I think he is super talented and would definitely give LCD another chance live. Oh yeah and James' dj sets are sick. And one more thing, the soulwax remix is the tits.

I have to disagree. I saw them live twice this summer... at Austin City Limits, and at Hollywood Bowl opening for Arcade Fire. Both sets were fantastic. I'm a huge Arcade Fire fan, but I'd have to say that LCD stole the show at the Bowl. If you are looking for "peaks and valleys" in the music, look no further than the vastly different sounds of "Disco Infiltrator", "Someone Great", "All My Friends", and "New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down".... all very different, and all great live. Pat Mahoney is a great drummer, and a real pleasure to watch perform live. LCD is on to something with the fusion of dance music, punk, and noise, and they do it better than just about anyone else. Just one man's opinion.

LCD played a free show in Philly this summer and they sounded great at first and everyone was real jazzed. but just as we started getting into it it was over! they played for like less than an hour! and then when everyone started calling for more the lead singer was a total dick about it and was like, its a free show, what do you expect? come on dude, play for your fans, free or not, we're here to see you, just proves its all about the $$ for you. Plus he was an asshole to David Dye when he was at the world cafe live. I still like their music but I wouldn't pay to see them after that shit.

saw lcd in louisville when they opened for arcade fire and it was awesome. pleasantly surprised to see that it wasnt just james murphy and some gear. as for jesposito's comment- cmon man it WAS FREE. i dont know how many shows ive seen at clubs where i sit around alnite listening to crappy bar bands waiting for the headliner and when they come on they play an hour, tops. when you pay $15 for this kinda show you get upset, when the show is free you gotta shrug it off and thank them for what they GAVE you.
