BENEVENTO/RUSSO DUO RETURN FROM HIBERNATION WITH FLURRY OF ACTIVITY
Benevento Russo Duo |
Diabolical masters of sound, the Benevento/Russo Duo return! There aren't too many contemporary acts who can lay claim to glowing reviews from such diametrically opposed publications, Down Beat and Pitchfork, however, the Benevento/Russo Duo are one of a few. After spending most of 2007, clipping, dipping, chopping and spraying their emanations in other artistic endeavors, the Benevento/Russo Duo are embarking on a West Coast U.S. Tour. Their first tour in a year, will of course bring their patented genre-defying instrumental madness, but this time, the keyboard/drum combo will infuse new influences ranging from front porch song-writing, death-metal jazz sessions, parenthood, travels and more.
The Duo kickoff their first tour of 2007 in style, with a return to the legendary Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO. Just when they get warmed up, the Duo jet off the following day to Los Angeles for an FREE concert at the J. Paul Getty Museum for their "Fridays off the 405 Series" - presented by KCRW and Flavorpill. This special show, followed by the intimate after-party and performance at L.A.'s The Mint, will feature exciting collaborations and a variety of old west coast friends. After their quick trip to the beach, the Duo will jump back onto their tour, heading back to Denver to join Devotchka for their Halloween extravaganza at the Fillmore Auditorium. Stops in Aspen and Sacramento should not be missed, but The Day of the Dead (proper) will find the band setting up shop at the Independent in San Francisco for a two-night stand. Joining them for these S.F. shows and most others for the tour will be Eighteenth Street Lounge recording artist, Federico Aubele.
Upon returning home and re-charging their batteries, the Benevento/Russo Duo will pick things up with a short east coast run that includes stops in Burlington, Woodstock and Northampton, before their debut at new hometown venue, the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thanksgiving Eve. Their next stop will be recharging their batteries with four days and two performances in Montego Bay, Jamaica as a part of Caribbean Holidaze. And to close it out, what is a holiday without old friends? Marco and Joe will hook up with Jamie Shields and Darren Shearer of the New Deal for a New Years Run by The Join that will feature a heavy set of progressive music that will blast you right into 2008.
The Benevento/Russo Duo will have a split EP available featuring exclusive live recordings from the Duo's 2006 Fall Tour as well as tracks from opening act, American Babies. In addition, the band will launch their own live download portal with the fine folks at livedownloads.com. The first releases, launching next week, including special performances from the band's first European show as well as a tour closer from 2005 that had fans clamoring for the past two years.
