Atlanta’s burgeoning young jamband, Ghost Trane, will headline a Benefit show at The Brandyhouse in Atlanta on June 7th. Ghost Trane recently performed a set at Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival, sharing the stage with the likes of Little Feat, Galactic and the North Mississippi All-Stars. Now they are channeling their popularity toward a very positive, charitable act. Joining Ghost Trane for the June 7th Benefit will be Melodious Ground and Disfunktion Junktion.

Tim “Nappy” Ullenburg was traveling from Huntsville, Alabama to Murfreesboro, Tennessee with two friends during the last weekend of April. They were in the middle of enjoying Widespread Panic’s spring tour, but their journey came to an abrupt end when, shortly after crossing the Tennessee border, they were involved in a terrible accident. Widespread fans sitting in the front of the vehicle suffered a broken collarbone, and the other a broken ankle. While these injuries are each no picnic, Tim’s situation was much worse. After Tim was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, it was learned that he had suffered a severe amount of head trauma. There is speculation that this was due to him hitting his head repeatedly on the interior of the car as it rolled.

Thankfully, Tim made it through ICU, and eventually was moved to Chattanooga where his parents live. He has since regained consciousness and his ability to move his hands and feet. Nappy has reportedly been answering questions using hand signals (he is unable to speak as he still has a tube in his throat). While he has a large amount of physical therapy ahead of him, Tim does have a chance to escape this ordeal with no permanent brain damage.

Ghost Trane, Melodious Ground and Disfunktion Junktion have each generously offered to play this benefit with the understanding that all of the proceeds will go to help pay Tim’s medical bills.

Please come out and support this event, or visit Ghost Trane’s web site (www.ghosttrane.com) to donate to the fund for Tim if you cannot attend the benefit. Be sure to keep in mind that this kind of thing can happen to any of us, almost any time.
