The Xmas Jam is, hands down, the biggest entertainment event of the year in Asheville. Looking forward to Panic on Halloween, but Warren, the Mule, about eight super support acts, and a sprinkling of guest musicians make for a Saturday not to be missed. Can't wait to see what Santa's bringing to the lineup this year.

And it's VERY cool to see that a group build has been incorporated this year.

If you could give Warren a holiday gift, what would it be?

Me thinks I would make him a personalized singing 'Warren bass'. Nothing says you care like a singing fish.

God, I miss Asheville...

Hopefully I can make it home for this. And hopefully the Xmas Jam will return to its '02--'04 form.

Overall-- Bele Chere is a much bigger entertainment event than the Xmas Jam. More people, more bands, hell, they shut the city down for an entire weekend. But, Xmas Jam is way cooler usually. Can't wait to see the line up. But I'm not here to hate, just saying,

Asheville rules, Warren rules, and the Xmas jam rules. Hope to see you all there.

I wanna find out who's playing this xmas jam other than Mule. Has that information been released yet? Does anybody know anything, any ideas? Asheville is probably kickass in December. Help me out.

It doesn't really matter who else is playing. If Warren and Gov't Mule is present, no others need be.

The first (and only so far) Christmas Jam I attended a few year ago was so awesome. I don't own a watch so I had no idea what time it was. While I did notice that a good number of people left before it ended, when we got back to the hotel (5 minute walk), I looked at the clock and uttered a "Holy x*d%4!" (Now I don't swear much).

It was 4:45am.

I had no idea it was so late. For all practical purposes it was over 8 hours of nonstop music. Maybe the longest break setting up equipment took 5 minutes if that.

You can bank on Dave Schools, Audley Freed and Edwin McCain. And while it's pure conjecture, none of these would shock me:

Michael Franti & Spearhead (MF played Warren's NY fest in '06, and they got real chummy at Bonnaroo this year), Bruce Hornsby & Ricky Scaggs (There's at least one Dead family rep almost every year), Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi (been a couple years since there's been an Allman rep), and Porter Wagoner & Marty Stuart (Marty's been there two years in a row and this pairing would be awesome).

But for a dream addition, I'll have my fingers crossed for Robert Plant & Alison Krauss.

The Spearhead and Trucks/Tedeschi Soul Review make sense....I'm personally hoping for My Morning Jacket....they played at Mountain Jam last year w/ Mule so who knows!!

I predict a John Paul Jones appearance.

...and by the way, if your in Asheville for Halloween this year, you owe it to yourself to check out RAQ late night at the Orange Peel. They're gonna blow the roof off that place.

Actually, JPJ sounds like a decent call, DBang. He pulled off two or three pretty darned cool tunes at Bonnaroo late night at the Mule's stage. And he's already done the Merlefest thing. So it certainly wouldn't be beyond belief to see him play the sit-in guy at Xmas Jam.

Good call on RAQ, too. Panic should let out nlt 11, and the Peel is only about a five or six block walk.

I've been fantasizing and speculating about the 2007 Jam lineup since the day after last years jam! John Popper Project is also a given. I doubt Michael Franti will be there, he's playing here in Asheville tomorrow. Dave M. played an amazing set last year- I'm hoping and praying that he will come back with Tim Reynolds who has just moved to North Carolina. My vote for the Dead rep is Phil. And what about a Phish member? Trey and Mike have both done the Jam. Finally my far fetched wish- The Roots!

We'll find out any day now...

Lets bring back the truckers, as a whole band. They opened up for Allmans in NC and VAin the summer. Id like to see TLG show up, that would be great. As far as Dave M last year, that did suck. I thought Taj Mahal and Marty Stuart did a good job. Ill watch Marty live anytime. Ill be there.

Peter Frampton was 100% on point the last time i saw him, over five years ago. You may not like his tunes, but it's Xmas Jam not a Frampton show, so don't worry too much.

I agree, not as much jamband as in years past, but we still love you Warren. Time to add on John Paul Jones and Ricky Skaggs.

Are you naysayers of Frampton kidding me? Have any of you ever heard of Humble Pie? Go get Rockin' the Filmore if you have any questions about what this guy is capable of being a part of; that is one of the best live albums ever. Marriott was raw soul, and God bless him for it. The Mule used to rock "30 Days in the Hole" all the time. There's no doubt in my mind that they will revisit some of that full rock glory on stage that night. "I Don't Need No Doctor," "Guilded Splinters," "4 Day Creep," "Up Your Sleeve," just to name a few. Taken out of context, sure Frampton Comes Alive can be cheezy, but as a whole, it shows that he has the ability to go solo and have the crowd eating out of his hand for the entire show - an entire guitar driven show no less; not to mention lining the streets to buy the album.

Jackson Browne is capable of delivering and will deliver. He has the emotion and delivery that Warren solo and Kevn Kinney strive for in their songwriting. Of course, he should be there.

Mr. Haynes, thanks for saving Audley Freed from those damn Dixie Chicks, even if it is only for one nite. Doesn't someone, in a decent band, need a badass guitar player. Why o Why Audley are you playing for those girls????

I have been to the Jam 4 times and let me tell you that if you want to look at shows/festivals/musical experiences to get to I would say:

1. Jazz Fest

2. Christmas Jam

3. Whatever your favorite festival may be, but it really can't match the top two

Its for a great cause, the lineup is always different as well as bad ass, the atmosphere is one of a kind at Christmas time, venue is sticky hot, smoky, non-stop dancing, Warren has a key to the city which means the show goes till whenever he wants. The list goes on and on.

GO TO THE CHRISTMAS JAM!!!!!!!

Tickets went onsale yesterday and your best bet(as in more likelihood that you will actually get a ticket in hand without it showing up as supposedly being sold out) is if you live in or can get to Asheville to go directly to the box office to purchase them, NOT from TM online.
