RYAN ADAMS & THE CARDINALS ANNOUNCE NEW EP
FOLLOW THE LIGHTS TO BE RELEASED 10/23 ON LOST HIGHWAY
INCLUDES NEW SONGS TO BE FEATURED ON ABC'S 'OCTOBER ROAD'

Ryan Adams
As Ryan & The Cards begin another long stretch of tour dates, they have also announced plans for a new EP to be released October 23 on Lost Highway Records. Follow The Lights is a seven song collection that includes both new and old compositions, several of which were recorded live in the studio this summer.

The two new songs on the disc, "Follow The Lights" and "My Love For You Is Real" will both be featured prominently in this fall's season of the ABC primetime drama "October Road" (airing 10 p.m. on Mondays). "Follow The Lights" will also be used in bumpers leading up to the show's season premiere on November 26. The complete sequence for Follow The Lights is:

1. Follow The Lights (new song)
2. My Love For You Is Real (new song)
3. Blue Hotel (first official release, recorded live in studio)
4. Dear John (live in studio)
5. This Is It (Cardinals version, live in studio)
6. Down In A Hole (Alice In Chains cover, live in studio)
7. If I Am A Stranger (live in studio)

Follow The Lights comes on the heels of Ryan's latest full length album Easy Tiger, which has been widely recognized as some of his finest work to date. The Associated Press described it as "the most cohesive and intricately arranged album [Adams] has ever made," and Time called it "a career breakthrough." Since Easy Tiger's release Ryan & The Cards have been on the road almost constantly, and as Variety recently put it, "[Adams is] probably giving the best performances of his career."

Ryan & The Cards are sounding incredible. A friend recently gave me a Minnesota acoustic show from June and an electric Germany show.

WOW! The songwriting is terrific. The band is super tight & Ryan's voice is sparkling. I'm really excited about this band. LQQking forward to this release. Toronto's Massey Hall will be glowing on Friday night.

Play Cards. Later.

I'll take miles' word on this one. And I'll find out for myself here in about a week when they play Red Rocks and the Fillmore.

I am starting to get pissed off. Everytime Jambase posts about Ryan all of this negative B.S. starts flying. Leave the guy alone. He is a fucking genuis. I am a big deadhead, and few artist music have moved me like his. I'm pretty sure most of the "critics" haven't listened to the same stuff I heard. If you don't like Ryan just skip articles about him. The shows I've seen have been spectacular and spiritual, Stephen King wrote recently that Ryan is one of the best songwriters to emerge since Neil Young. I whole heartedly agree. Phil Lesh called Ryan one of the bravest musicians he ever met and added that if Jerry would have met him he would have loved him. Why are half the comments about this article about missing shows, staying away from Phil and so forth. Please go buy Easy Tiger and once you've listned to it, then in my opinion, the listener will have enough information tolog on and post something that is based on Ryans work, not the unfortunate effects his addiction had on his touring schedule, (he's clean now) I hope I live long enough to see one or two more phenomenal songwriters like Ryan emerge. He in my opinion is a small group with Woody, Hunter, Dylan< Neil and maybe Jeff Tweedy. Please stop hating.

assafjaffe - you are so correct.

Wednesday night in Montreal was incredible. The band was crackling with energy and Ryan's vocals shined. The audience was great too.

Definitely one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

Listening to recent live shows is sure to draw in most disbeleivers.

Very excited about tonight in TO. Go Cardinals. What a band!

The Cardinals are the best "backing" band in the business. Ryan's latest shows are definitely some of his best ever - just on fire!

I also noticed that Phil & Friends played "Let it Ride" in Denver this past weekend - I guess Phil doesn't agree with the criticism on this board and can recognize true songwriting talent.
