Family Groove Caravan

Family Groove Company
After a huge summer wowing audiences at tour stops that included the 10,000 Lakes Festival, Summer Camp, headlining appearances at the New Earth Festival and the Strip Mines Music Festival, and club dates all over the Midwest, more and more Family Groove Company fans are uniting, not just to enjoy the band's music, but to actively bring that music to others. The Family Groove Caravan was created to help organize this rapidly growing community.

Central to the Caravan's journey is the new Family Groove Caravan website - www.familygrooveco.com/caravan. In addition to unreleased audio/video, and backstage glimpses of the band, the new site will help to streamline the FGC community, making it easier for fans and friends to get in touch with each other, and even the band. Visitors will find numerous ways to get involved with the rapidly growing grass-roots effort to spread the word about the band, and FGC will be holding weekly contests for FGC merch, mp3 players, and VIP concert/hotel packages.

FGC will be touring in support of their 2006 release, The Charmer, but material for a new forthcoming album is already being featured prominently. "I just LOVE the new tunes we've been working on," says guitarist Adam Lewis. "There's a new energy there... a new charge that I can't quite put my finger on, but the response has been tremendous!"

I think first off Milesgone you need to see them more than once to truly appreciate there abilities. They have a truly amasing live show. I have seen them over 20 times this year and they still blow me away! EVERYTIME!!! Now unless you saw FGC when they hailed from L.A, they are not music students. It is true however that they used to be music students at the musicians institue in Los Angeles, but that was many a years ago. After arriving at the Musicians' Institute, Janis quickly rose to the top of her class, and was later voted "Outstanding Bassist" by her teachers and peers. It was not long before she began teaching at MI. So I think your comments are a little off base. Janis was a music teacher, so i think that gives her some pretty damn good skills. Of course they do have room to grow however, every single band on the scene has room to grow. They have been developing an unccanily fresh sound since 2001 constantly developing as musicians and each year since has been better than the one that came before it. As jambase.com says "Pure talent like this dosn't grow on tree's." So how about before you go and diss on a band, get some background info on who they are and what there about.

Well milesgone, it looks like we may be teaming up on you, but at least you now say they are good after having seen them. That is a better response than your last FGC post where I believe you described them as ordinary or something after having listened to an LP. Like Girard, I've seen them much more than one time, and I am impressed every time. Even when I go with high expectations, they blow me away. Whatever formula they've created, it works. They continue to get people off of their asses and on to the dance floor. I've seen them blow some bigger names out of the water if you'd allow me to judge based on fan reaction. To say that you believe they are good, but not great is sorta a slap in the face. Their resume speaks for itself, and they did make huge strides this year as far as the level of respect they are getting from promoters and booking agents. Just say they are good, and the rest of us who have seen them more than once will continue to spread the word about their greatness. I can tell, you'll be coming around. Their new stuff is excellent by the way. Midwest Represent!!!

Oh yeah, if you saw FGC and they looked or sounded like music students (as in, going to school to be musicians) you are either lying about seeing them, saw a different band, or have something personal against them. I know hundreds of working musicians many of which are on your favorite bands list, and none of them would agree with your statement.

Well unlike some few..key word few..I think FGC is awesome...Why do some folks expect every band to be like a Phish from '94 type (Very few have been able to do it that well anyways)..outrageous jammy music all of the time? FGC is a balance of great songwriting and funk/groove/bluesy folk rock music...if that makes any sense..Anyway, try to not let negative opinions persuade you..and let your ears be part of the decision making process...
