PGroove Last Supper

Perpetual Groove
Perpetual Groove and their fans have been invited to help close out thirty years of music at the current Ziggy's location in Winston-Salem, NC. Perpetual Groove will be tearing down the roof (to help make way for the new owners) on Friday, November, 23 through Sunday, November, 24. Saturday will feature Perpetual Groove headlining with two sets, and then on Sunday, Perpetual Groove will perform once more in addition to hosting an all-star jam with the musicians who will be performing over the course of the weekend. Look for more details to be announced soon! The Ruins, featuring Brock Butler, John Hruby, Adam Perry and Travis Kline will be performing on Friday night at Ziggy's during the Last Supper Festivities weekend.

As they've done in the past, the group will also celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday by breaking bread with a number of friends and fans at the venue Friday, November, 23.

So does this mean there will no longer be a ziggys? If so thats too bad. I've only been there once(I'm from Ohio) and that was to see pgroove which was a redunculously awesome show. Cool little venue in a cool little spot tucked away.

Wow the NC music scene would really take a hit if Ziggy's went away. Then there'd REALLY be no reason to go to Winston-Salem...

wow, I hadn't heard this about Ziggy's closing. I grew up in Winston Salem and without Ziggy's we'd have had nothing at all to do. The first time I went there is was just a tiny little house (current members' liquor bar) and a covered stage with some gravel and picnic tables in between. They did an awful lot of work to create the venue as it is today. I saw so many great artists there over the years: Phish, WSP, David Byrne, Bela Fleck, Black Crowes, MMW, Leftover Salmon, KDTU, and the list goes on and on. Sad to see it go, although I wouldn't be surprised to see the venue spring up at a new location sometime soon.

Don't "fret"...Ziggy's is closing down in it's original location only to re-open in downtown Winston-Salem.

Here's a snippet from the 8/14/07 article in the Winston-Salem Journal:

Now [Ziggy]'s Tavern is packing up and moving downtown. Jay Stephens, who bought Ziggy's Tavern in 1991, said yesterday that he is closing the club at 433 Baity St. in November and plans to open up at a new location in the old Woolworth building on Liberty Street on Sept. 1, 2008.

...of course we'll have to look to other venues for the December 2007 thru August 2008 timeframe.
