Dr. Arvin Scott
Beat The Drum is an interactive community drumming show in which the audience is encouraged to drum along side Sunny Ortiz and Dr. Arvin Scott. Dr. Scott provides door prizes from Latin Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, and Vic Firth Percussion and his own collection. All proceeds after expenses benefit Drumming For Success youth program.

Drumming for Success was founded by Dr. Arvin Scott in 1997. It is a community-based program for youth ages 3-16 in Athens, Georgia and the surrounding area. It provides free percussion classes and hand drums for all the kids while encouraging academic achievement, character building, and creativity through personal goal accomplishment and group cooperation.

The program has been recognized in the year 2000 by earning two community awards The Best Supporter of Athens Music Scene given by the Flagpole Athens Music Awards Beneficiary of the 22nd Annual Human Rights Festival.

I really love it when people have no clue as to what they are talkng about on this forum. Thank you "tranceful_delite" for your delightful insight into drumming. That was a mind altering comment. Peace.

This is great – Hell, any music for children is great. I have a theory that the reason that music sucks so bad these days (90% of rap, 95% of neo-soul, 99% of country, 100% of American Idol) is because we have an entire generation who has been brought up culturally illiterate. What do you think you get when you eliminate art and music programs from schools? Kids that appreciate Monet and Stravinsky? Nope – you get kids that appreciate EA Sports and Kelly Clarkson.
We have been supporting Elgin Symphony Orchestra in their school programs. If you look around your community, I am sure that you can find some good programs to donate your time/money to.
As for the likes of tranceful_delight, I think that it is better to ignore idiots out there. Lots of morons log on to this site to spread venom and hate to see if they can get a rise or pick a fight. Why? Probably because they had a crappy day at work or because they aren’t getting laid. Who knows – sick minds. Ignore them long enough and they will go away.

sunny was an integral KEY to me getting into panic.
I just always love his sound in the mix.
Todd Nance is a precision drummer, he never, ever, misses a beat, if he bores you, then you are a boring person perhaps.
