MIKE DILLON'S GO-GO JUNGLE
Announce August & September Tour Dates
In Support of Debut Album BATTERY MILK on HYENA Records
"The best psychedelic '60s-sounding cult band to come out of the new millennium" -The Phoenix New Times
"Now Mike Dillon has his own crew whose debut, Battery Milk, is both rough-hewn and debonair. The disc is a groove-y Twilight Zone where hearty jazz improvisations twist with dabs of metallic Sabbath-slabs over vigorous fatback-funk grooves." -San Francisco Weekly

Mike Dillon's Go-Go Jungle is riding high on the out-of-the-box success of their debut album Battery Milk. Vibraphonist and percussionist Mike Dillon, who thus far has spent the majority of the summer touring as a member of Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, will rejoin his band-mates in the Go-Go Jungle for a string of West Coast shows in early August and later in the month a run through the Southern United States. They'll launch the tour with a two night headline stand at The Boom Boom Room in San Francisco, CA (Wednesday, August 1 and Thursday, August 2). Other stops along the way include two nights opening for guitar wizard Charlie Hunter in Sacramento and Crystal Bay (August 3 and 4), a double bill with Gabby La La in Sebastapol (August 8) and festival appearances including Summer Meltdown Festival (Darrington, WA on August 11) and Crossroads Festival (Kansas City, MO on September 10).
Mike Dillon's Go-Go Jungle, who also features bassist JJ "Jungle" Richards and drummer "Go-Go" Ray Pollard, deliver a visceral wallop of old school big beat grooves and Frank Zappa-esque inspired irreverence. On Battery Milk, they splendidly showcase a penchant for musical unpredictability hop-scotching from Meters-influenced funk like that of "Go-Go's Theme" to the black comedy-tinged "The Voyeur." And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are moments of punk-jazz mania such as the tongue-in-cheek "Stupid Americans" and straight-up improvisational fireworks like the Eddie Harris tribute "Harris Country." Battery Milk by Mike Dillon's Go-Go Jungle is available now on HYENA Records.
