This is great news. I'm glad that he's healthy enought to tour already. I knew Warren and John Scofield were too good to last long.

Jackie Green? the song on his myspace are hurting my ears :( Phil really seems to like these tame new songwriters (Ryan Adams and Jackie Green)

Nokia theater is one of the worst places to see a show! between the corporate advertising everywhere you look and the $8 cans of beer, this place blows.

Jackie Greene is a very solid player, but I'd always known him for his keyboard skills. I saw him down in Arizona earlier in the year at a little fest and he was ripping some quirky blues stuff out on the geehtah, so I'm sure he'll do just fine.

I just wish the Colorado shows didn't conflict with the two night run of Railroad Earth and Hot Buttered Rum! I guess I'll be splitting things up.

Jackie Greene kicks ass ~ saw him in Toronto opening for Susan Tedeschi over a year ago having never heard of him either, and became an instant fan. On his own his stage presence was amazing, channeling early Dylan at the time with his guitar and harmonica, switching occasionally to rock out on the keys. Having seen P&F since early days in the Bay in the late 90's, I'll be on this run as much to see how Jackie handles himself as to welcome good ol' Phil back into the fold!

Saw Phil & Friends at the Fox in Atlanta and again at Lakewood (Hifi Buys) on the last run and it was a bit disappointing. Sound quality was horrible at both shows. The Lakewood show was saved by Dickey Betts, but I remember Joan Osborne boring me to death most of the show, and some rather watered down musicianship at both of these. I guess if I never saw a Grateful Dead concert and was contemplating it I would check it out, but having seen what I've seen over the years, I will def. be skipping this.

C'ville crawling with cops? Dude get off the crack. The downtown mall and the Pavillion are a great way to see a show. For those of you who don't know a couple of years back C'ville closed off a main street in the business district. Long story short you can stroll down the "mall" get a beer, dinner, gelato, whatever. End up at the pavillion at the end of your stroll. The pavillion is run extremely well. Plenty of room.

I actually saw Phill, his wife and Capshaw enjoying a meal on the downtown mall about two years back. Phil's kid was considering UVA so he came to check it out. It was great seeing Phil and his wife strolling down the mall after dinner and not a soul new that the greatest bass player from the greatest band of all time was right thier in front of them. Phil will rock Hoo-ville. Just check out the Dead when they played there in 1982. So opinions are like sphincters and crack heads can get to the internet. Phil rocks and so does the C'ville Pavillion!

Friends said that the show at the Independent was terrible. The only saving grace was Jackie Greene singing the first song of the night, I believe it was Loose Lucy. Suckfest for the rest of the night! Oh well, Phil happens!
