Aesop Rock
The illustrious and prolific Definitive Jux artist Aesop Rock will be touring North America this fall with Rob Sonic, Blockhead (w/ DJ Signify), Cage, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and Octopus Project on select dates in support of his new album, None Shall Pass. DJ Big Wiz will be on turntable duty for Aesop and Rob on all shows.

Responsible for all but revolutionizing the entire face of underground hip-hop in the early portion of this decade with a slew of potent and influential releases such as 2000's Float LP, 2001's monumental Labor Days LP, and 2003's Bazooka Tooth to his most recent EP/book, 2005's Fast Cars, Danger, Fire and Knives, Aesop Rock (aka Ian Bavitz) has proven that resting on his past laurels is all but forbidden. In the last year alone, Aesop has released a 45-minute workout mix for Nike+, a short story in collaboration with visual artist Jeremy Fish, and scored music for two short films. 2007 finds Aesop delivering his next full length album, the highly anticipated None Shall Pass on Definitive Jux. They say the revolution won't be televised, so I guess I'll probably miss it.

I love Aesop Rock but when i saw his live performance it was pretty bad...anyone else agree? When i last saw him he did this comedy bit on trying to quit smoking that was awful. And lyric wise not a word was discernable as the his nasal tone does not mesh well with the club acoustics...has his live show improved?

I've not seen him live, but I do love his albums. Labor Days blew my mind the first time I heard it, and I continue to pick up new rhymes, themes, and anecdotes everytime I listen. Anyone see his set at B-Roo?

"Life's not a bitch, life is a beautiful women, you only call her a bitch cause she won't let you get that pussy. Maybe she didn't feel y'all shared any similar interests, or maybe your just an asshole who couldn't sweettalk a princess."

"Look, I've never had a dream in my life because a dream is what you wanna do, but still haven't pursued. I knew what I wanted and did it till it was done
So i've been the dream that I wanted to be since day one!" - Aesop Rock.

Some of the most inspirational and beautiful words I have ever heard. I love me some Aes Rock. Never seen him live, but love every one of his albums.

Aes Rock has me the most excited I have been about hip-hop in a while. I saw him at Bonnaroo and thought his live show was great!

Aes Rizzle rocked Roo really hard... It definitely balanced me out after having just seen tool blow my mind, he blew it again but in a much different way. No doubt I'll be at the philly show.

"Now we the American working population
Hate the fact that eight hours a day
Is wasted on chasing the dream of someone that isn't us
And we may not hate our jobs
But we hate jobs in general
That don't have to do with fighting our own causes
We the American working population
Hate the nine-to-five day-in day-out
When we'd rather be supporting ourselves
By being paid to perfect the pasttimes
That we have harbored based solely on the fact
That it makes us smile if it sounds dope"

his live show is hit or miss. i think he has good stage presence but it depends on his song selection. at bonnaroo, the set started off on fire with fast cars and then he did a remixed version of no regrets (which was the shit) and a verse of holy smokes. then he lost a little steam. i was hoping for songs like big bang, 9 to 5ers, save yourself, and flashflood. the crowd was still feeling it, but i cant help but think the energy level could have been higher with the right songs. 2 cents. i still love his music and vision.
