HIPPIEFEST BRINGS ICONS

HIPPIEFEST BRINGS 60's AND 70's ICONS TO CENTERSTAGE
THE TURTLES, FELIX CAVALIERE'S RASCALS AND
THE ZOMBIES HEADLINE TOUR OF HITMAKERS
2nd ANNUAL TOUR KICKS OFF IN TORONTO ON 7/25

The Turtles
Experience Hippiefest, the musical flashback celebrating the bands that defined music's most influential decade: the '60s. The second annual Hippiefest marks the fortieth anniversary of the Summer of Love – an era of liberation, experimentation, long hair and flower power – with impresarios The Turtles, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals, The Zombies, Mountain, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger, Country Joe McDonald, Iron Butterfly, Denny Laine and Melanie.

Tour creator Toby Ludwig explains, "This festival is for people who weren't around in the '60s and '70s or were and just can't seem to remember. Bring your parents, your grandparents and your kids. Come be a Hippie for a day!"

Hippiefest features several musicians who performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and the original Woodstock. The 21-date tour kicks off in Toronto, Ontario on July 25 and ends in San Diego, California on August 21.

The first annual Hippiefest was billed a "time warp" (The Hartford Courant) "guaranteed to get boomers misty-eyed enough to fog up their bifocals" (Newsday). The Rutland Herald declared, "This just might be the time for hippies to rise again."

Tour dates available HERE.

Far out, man! But seriously...I don't think many of the original line-ups are intact. Kinda like seeing tribute bands, eh?

BADFINGER?!!! How are they going to play with only two of the surviving members? Shameless...

Ha ha, also, Mytch Ryder should be the headliner. He rules. Mountain kicks ass too. Although I gotta wonder about Iron Butterfly. Everybody is going to be shouting "Play Inna Gadda Da Vida" and one will wonder if they still og the stamina to make it to that 17 minute point.

Remember that episode of the Simpsons where Bachman Turner Overdrive played at the Springfield Fair and Homer was all like "Play Taking Care of Business" and when they finally did he was like "Get to the "workin' overtime" part"

This could be really good or really bad. I'm not sure which. If I go it will probably be spur of the moment.
