Verve Records has created an elegant website as an added bonus for the new Ella Fitzgerald tribute album, We All Love Ella: Celebrating the First Lady of Song out June 5, appropriately named "Celebrate Ella.com" - www.celebrateElla.com.
The cornerstone of the site is exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of stars like Michael Buble, Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, k.d. lang, Dianne Reeves, Chaka Khan and newcomer Ledisi recording their thrilling versions of Ella classics for the album with production icon Phil Ramone working the boards. Many also offer heartfelt commentary about Ella and what it was like to record her music.
Site navigators will also be able to purchase We All Love Ella: Celebrating the First Lady of Song as well as other Ella catalog reissues from a link to Amazon.com. There are also details about the PBS GREAT PERFORMANCES concert tribute to Ella set to air June 6 featuring stars from the album and other celebrities including Quincy Jones, Ruben Studdard, James Moody, Wynonna and more.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the We All Love Ella recording will be donated to the Ella Fitzgerald Foundation. Fitzgerald created and funded the foundation to create educational opportunities for children, foster love of music, assist those in need, and support medical care and research.
Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century. In her lifetime, she won 13 GRAMMY® awards and sold over 40 million albums. Her catalog continues to be as popular as ever and her iconic stature is undiminished. Fitzgerald would have turned 90 on April 25, 2007.
